well if you're turning it into a all out race machine get rid of the a/c... and then mount the intercooler in the engine bay like i did....my intercooler is huge 31x12x3 end tank to end tank. it fit perfectly. we welded on a few brackets on top and bottom, and it is as rigid as anything on the car. i put a screen in front so the intercooler is more protected, and the airflow is great. i mounted the intercooler in the space where my condensor used to be and i mounted my radiator behind that. of course i removed the mechanical fan, but the radiator i have is better and the car has never had heat problems... i put the stock electrical fan on back of the radiator and it cycles on and off if the car gets warm when i'm timing it down, or when i'm sitting at a light in the middle of summer.
anyhow the cold side is like ice, and the piping is a straight shot. if you need pictures, well i can't help you there right now because i'm doing finals and stuff and i dont have pictures, and typically i get home at 12 am and go to bed so i can get up at 6 am... once the spring is over i'll have mroe time but right now engineering is killing me.
anyhow so if they have a tig, you will be able to do so many great things, and it can come out looking much cleaner than mine (i only have a mig to use on a regular basis, but everything works fine and the intercooler is like a part of the car at this point. with a tig you can make custom charge pipes and everything else you need. i'm having a friend weld my charge pipes into like 2 pipes per side (2 for hot and 2 for cold).
anyhow so that way i didn't have to mess with the bumper at all and everything works very well...
