I didnt want to completely Jack Oversteet180's thread because i planned on adding pictures of things other then my megasquirt, so heres what ive worked on. im still slacking off on progress. I have been working on to many customer cars and im burnt out by the end of the day.

this is my trigger wheel, i can do these for people i dont know the price as i didnt pay for this, it was done as a favor. the guy made a small mistake on measurements so my wheel was sloppy fitting, i tried to center it as much as i could before i welded it, if its to wobbly ill run a weld along the pulley and have it turned down to fit.

the mount, now this is not my finished design as i rushed this and its not my standard quality. ill be making a new one from aluminum when i run down to purchase the materials this gave me some new ideas on how to make it more functional.

The Dash board, what "race" car build would be complete with a stock dash board?? not mine, im still on the fence about this part of the car, but if i can pull this off i think it will be pretty cool looking , and i can always throw it on ebay and put a little cash in my pocket if i dont like it.

this was my first attempt at sheet metal type fabrication, i dont have and equipment to do it, we had to make a 24" metal brake to bend the metal for the gauge cluster area. i still need to get my hands on a 50" or so brake/press and a few other fun toys for this type of fabrication.

Ill have more photos as i get the motor in the car and begin the wiring, im not working on it this week since i just screwed up my ankle nicely in a car wreck this morning , my week is going just lovely!! tomorrow will be the breaking point we have our turbo IS300 going out for dyno tuning and im praying this thing holds togther, if not i might just loose it.

Awesome work man its a shame your not getting much response.

Anyways I just want to go over a little about your VR sensor.

You need your VR sensor to be positioned perfectly centered with that 9th tooth yours is an angle. I know you said thats its not final but just wanted to bring that to your attention as that tilt can cause improper polarity readings.

yeah its going to probably be fixed, but from ive been reading it can be off like that and still be ok. but for my final bracket it will be done dead center.

bracket number 1 has been cut apart, im making a new one the will line it up perfectly, i just did my timming belt and installed my pulley for the final time it wouldnt line up for crap, so its easier to just redo it.

so yesterday we sent out our turbo Lexus IS300 for tuning, this car has been in our shop so many times now because various problems due to the guy who orginally built it. we have so far rebuilt his turbo manifold, installed a haltec fuel contoller, injectors ,fixed some improper fitting FMIC piping, put a new turbo on, new gauges, list goes on... out of the 4years hes own the car its been in shops for most of that life span... today it went to the dyno, car had a good street tune on it, we had given it back to the owner to put some miles on after doing a decompression headgasket from SRT, it was pushing 10psi and running great. put it on the dyno and the tuner trys to switch between a fuel map we had built to the base map SRT sends with it. HE doesnt save the map, it was 100X better, so back to the drawing board which took over an hour of time, then they took a heat shield of the manifold for some reason, melted the waste gate signal line, boost spikes galour... get that fixed now they couldnt get the damn thing to hold more then 5psi im not there to fix the problems or trouble shoot, so they say screw it tune it to 5psi we will just come back later for a hour to tune it to 14psi all is good ! owner is happy with the car. The car is slow but tuned. im happy!!

I go into the shop do a few odd jobs, go home around 11:30pm then i get a phone call the owner is 45mins away in the city it was dynoed, the car stalled and wont start. i said if this car had anything go wrong i was going to Fn loose it, but figure throw some new plugs in and it should be fine... cool no big deal i'll sleep fine tonight, but then he continues to tell me that when the tow truck gets there the guy begins pulling the car up backwards on to the flat bed it gets all the way on and before he begins to level the bed it F*@king comes off the winch rolls off the truck down the exit ramp; which is a hill, through three lanes of highway traffic down a embankment past three trees and nails the fourth one.. You have got to be f*&king kidding me..... i go in this morning sure enough its back and its bruised up and wont start...

I give up i cant win with this car, its got to be cursed. its had more things go wrong then i will even get into. i would say im ready to burn the thing to the ground, but its already tried to do that to itself and it didnt work....

heres some pictures of the thing how it sits.

it doesnt look too bad i guess, but it will need both fenders replaced, both headlight buckets were busted, front bumper, and it also ripped up a bunch of the chassis harness on the driver side, not to mention his 1K dollar radar system. I can move a box thats jammed between teh wheel and the inner fender and the wipers will come on, and then the radiator fans, the tow truck company doesnt want to put it through the insurance and wants to out of pocket it, but im convincing him to file a police report and call their insurance company. this is going to be exspensive and i want to make sure he has it done fast and done right.

megasquirt wiring has started, wired up the injectors, alternator, coolant temp sensor, and starter. Still need to wire up intake air temp,TPS,and VR sensor. im still playing with the location of the wiring to hide every bit of it as much as i can. so far you cant really see any wiring from the front of the car. we have two bundles going into the fire wall. all wires are covered in a see through mesh, makes for a cleaner install look.

mounted my EDIS module and a Dodge neon coil pack in the car, the neon coil pack allows for easier mounting , and use of customizable wires since i will need them to be a little longer then normal. the wires will come up from behind the engine near the trans and into the back of the motor to keep them hidden. we are making a custom fuse and relay panel since my whole car is being re wired. once the motor runs i we will begin on the chassis harness which shouldnt be very hard. im doing away with keys all togther, none of my locks work except ign so i have no need for it. ill just hide a kill switch, then have ign power and push button start.

head on view, needs cleaned up some, but very little visiable wiring

all the wires for the motor going to the firewall, the wires not wrapped in the black mesh , will be and ran with one of the bundles once i get plugs for those sensors. they are for the intake air temp, and TPS.

megasuirt mounted near factory location

the start of the nerve center of the cars electrical system, its a alum plate thats mounting where the glove box door used to be. i put the alum dash on the back burner till we get the car running and driving it will be going in when i do the roll cage.

I will have more pictures this weekend when im motivated to do a little more work on it.

Very nice looking man. Sorry to hear about that IS, some cars just have that bad string of luck I guess. For the record, that dash looks pretty damn sweet. I love seeing progress on people's project cars. Keep us updated, and you better be showing some video when this suckers running.

Just in:

the lexus thats wrecked in my pictures, the owner of the tow company is given the runaround, but we got signed contract taht they will pay for repairs. so we started tearing it back apart to begin the body repairs.

but first we wanted to see why it stalled out and wouldnt run in the first place, we havnt touched it due to insurance and the hefty claim that will come out of it. so we check the plugs all good, there goes the fouled out from tuning and being so rich that day theory. compression is fairly normal for having a headgasket that dropped the compression 1point. oh wait whats that... the low fuel light is on... no it couldnt be... no way... yep the damn thing was just outa gas..

well i started this whole thing back in march of 06 its now November almost a year, we have been busy the past year, and i have been lazy when it comes to working on my own car. slowly making progress. Hopefully its worth all the work, instead of leaving it be and driving all summer

Precision turbo 780CC injectors take place of the burnt 550cc's. The TPS,Injectors, and coolant temp are all wired and connected in the picture, you can barely see the wiring, the Intake air temp still needs to be placed in the the cold pipe and the wire hidden. If you look close you can see that i hid the z23 fuel filter behind the motor on the firewall along with all the lines.

almost done, somone stole my drivers fender and headlight cover, i still have to snatch them back. also have to mount the PS reservoir back in the corner by the master cylinders. The lighting in the new shop is great compared to the old one, and the floors are clean and fresh. ill post up some pictures of the shop later.

The down pipe, the hardest part i had to make. i was going to go open dump to make things simple, but i think im sick of having a unbearably loud exhaust. this was made out of 3" SS piping, and the under side was made partially from sheet metal. its divided for about 1-2" then merges the flows together.

thats it for now. i just gotta map from a former member, i will be loading it up and trying to start it this weekend. hopefully it runs and will give me some motivation to complete it.

Congrats on the progress Jon. I can't wait to see this thing finally on the road. I REALLY want to see what kind of numbers you put down with that turbo.
