I have a feeling this thread will be FULL of small updates until this motor can come in!!

But anyway small update number 143452-

A friend found me a set of Q45 front brakes and rotors, for 50 dollar! Rebuilt and the rotors are new.

Anyone have the background with what has to be modified to allow these to fit. I know they bolt right up, but that is only a figure of speech .

Thanks guys. And yes. I'm trying to make the motor get here quicker too.

Nice. So ur not gonna run it at Circuit? You would probaly stomp a lot of people out there. Might even give Oscar a run for his money.

Another 240 in Jackson?! No way - this isn't the guy with the orange one, eh?

By the way - try to keep this project on the low. Thankfully not many people remember my car because I haven't driven it for the past year because of constant small problems.

But yeah, try not to talk about it too much.

And I look to run some solo under SCCA. But that might be a year from now. P.S. you've got an email.

O yeah - and apparently the company I'm purchasing the engine from is sending another LSD.

I contemplate on having one welded and the other stock.

Are there any specific places to weld the differential on the inside, or is it just make it good and gooey to keep from breaking?

this is how i did mine. some people put a plate in there and weld all the way around it. some people say mine will break. i have launched it off the limiter time and time again. and its holding strong. just make sure you use a 220v welder and crank up the heat!

---------UPDATE!!------------

Well, have some good news - and some bad news. Unfortunately, I will not be receiving my engine/trans set until May 9th. This is because when I was younger I decided to be put CD's into a bank account and I can't touch them until the time is up. Anyway - Too long of a story.

So - Seeing as I now have a shop to "do work", I figured while I'm waiting on the money I'll start putting some more suspension components on the vehicle.

As I type this I'm checking out a NISMO power brace. I'd like to see one mounted to the S14 chassis if anyone has a picture.

Really. I don't know where to start. I don't want it to be this ungodly priced suspension set up, even though I'd like it, BUT, I do want it a mild set up for when I do decide to get into SCCA.

I don't want to run coilovers because that is a lot of money for a suspension styling I don't care for. I'm not one to go into alot of "dialing" in a suspension. I just would like to know I'm save a certain speeds.

Anyway - What would you all consider a "mild" set up suspension wise on the vehicle.

Right now it has KYB AGX's and vogtland springs. Those will soon be replaced with eibach sportlines.

Basically just MAIN suspension parts that could be upgraded for quicker steer response, more grab to asphalt, you all get the general idea. Thanks guys.

P.S. picture of Q45 brakes (painted) will be posted tomorrow once I finish up.

After relaying just now through a few sites, I've come across Circuit Sports suspension arms, etc.

Anyone ran these on a daily driven S14 chassis?

Any comments about there parts?

And I've seen a lot of rear suspension components. But not much with the front. Any ideas?

I think I'll be replacing the rear upper control arms and tension rods. What else should I go with, again with only a mild streetable set up.

And any info on front suspension components would be great too!!

ThanksCorey

for front you can look at getting control arms, tie rods, tie rod ends, and tension rods at least....and of course coils. Bushings all the way around, and maybe a power brace will be good accents to a good setup on anything you keep stock, but it all depends on how stiff you want the car to be.

Stay away from ebay-esque parts because they break, they break on the track and during daily driving.

Alrighty - Well they have some pretty good deals on there RUCAS for the chassis, and seems like they have that for all there components, so I guess I'm about to begin my ordering

I'll make sure to get some pictures of the brakes tonight.

Anyone had any problems with the Q45 brakes? Any fabrication that needs to be done?

Well - Tonight wasn't a very productive night. . .and I honestly don't know why. I think it was because it was so damn cold.

Anyway - I got one of the Q45 calipers painted, and it looks fairly decent. I also went ahead and bent back the dust shield to fit the rotor on. I didn't realize how much bigger this Q45 rotor is!

Anyway, I'll probably get more done if not both sides on by tomorrow. I'm hoping. But I guess time isn't really an issue nowadays

Also, in case you didn't read the above post, I think I'm going to stay strong with running circuit sport stuff.

Tension rods and upper control arms will be replaced. I've got TEIN inner tie rod and outer tie rod ends on the front. Probably look into some more suspension components while I'm on.

ThanksCorey

kudos for doing the suspension upgrades. From what I've heard the Circuit Sports stuff is pretty good, but I have no personal experience to verify that. I'm looking forward to seeing your brake upgrade too. Did you get a set of stainless steel lines to go with the Q brakes?

Unfortunately not. I think I just might though - They don't run too high and I might as well while I'm down in the area.

So I've been on phase2motortrend's website doing a little pre-shopping for suspension and what not.

Not a big list - but tell me what else should be added here.

Circuit Sport Tension rodsCircuit Sport Rear toe links Circuit Sport Rear camber armsEibach SportlinesNISMO power brace-------Grand total is 866.95. Of course, that is before shipping - but I think they might let me by with a little free shipping action seeing as I will probably be purchasing more from them.

I was also looking at the controllers on there site. Greddy has that ProFec B II that I think I will be looking into getting come when it is time. Any comments on the stuff?

Anyway - So there you have it as far as I have with my suspension upgrading. Please ring in if you believe anything else should be added. Mind you, again, I already have AGX struts/shocks and TEIN inner tie rod and outer tie rod ends.

I contemplated camber plates. But not quite sure who to buy from in that area. And I know with that much of a lower on the vehicle with the springs I will be needing adjustments elsewhere. Anything I might need to add to my list to make sure I can have the array of adjustment when it comes time?

Thanks guysCorey

Well guys - I've had to post pone the work on the car for a couple days - I got the brakes on and mounted the two front tires. But unfortunately - I decided to stare at a UV light that was contained in a unit (air conditioning unit) and burnt the outer layer of my cornea in both eyes.

So I'm going to be off it for a couple days then wait another week to get enough money saved up to buy all my suspension parts at once. Well at least tension rods and toe links.

I THINK. I might just go ahead and purchase the sportlines also.

Any info on the above parts stated would be great - thanks guys
