Did you do the drive shaft yet? That made a huge huge difference in the power delivery on my NA. Unbelievably noticeable.

I heard it cause some problem. I heard stock mount is the best. I did some research while i was swapping transmission.

I've been contemplating that as my next "power" mod.

I have had them two of the Z's for some time now, no issues. The Nismo one isn't really that much different than stock. Maybe a little more material and a little stiffer. I makes very little difference over stock and in turn, I can't see it causing any problems at all.

the nismo mount doesn't degrade as quickly as the stock one, so it lasts longer. It also has a bit less play in it, so I presume it would be easier on the driveshaft.

So, in preparation for Branson Z Fest and to get some spring cleaning done on the old girl, I took her to our clubs newest sponsor Attention2Detail. I am totally impressed with the work that was done. I can't believe how great the car looks now, better than it has, since... well, since about 1992.

Here is Jeremy's account of the process.
Honad gave me a call wanting to clean the track car up. The car overall was in good condition aside from some dirty wheels, a couple cone scuffs, and a few small scratches. Nothing A2D can't take care of. Here are some pics:

Honad dropping the Z off

Dirty engine

Wheels saturated in brake dust and grime

Getting down to business

After testing out a square on the hood

Interior before

Floor mats before

Interior after mat shampoo and interior surfaces cleaned and dressed

Starting to get a nice shine

Almost has a Diablo look to it

Exhaust covered in carbon and grime

Exhaust after being cleaned and polished

Engine after being cleaned and dressed

Nice

Wheels completely cleaned including inside barrel

Looking good

Almost feels like the 90's in this pic
Car is looking good, have you experienced any chatter with the light weight flywheel?

None, actually. It was actually quite surprising since I get a bit on take off in my Twin Turbo. If anything the JWT setup is easier and more quiet than the stock stuff ever was.

I did it at the same time I put the flywheel/clutch in. I figured I had the exhaust off anyway, might as well slap it on there. I stuck the old Greddy SP2 on the 90 Z along with some new exhaust gaskets and am I glad I did. That Silver 90 had some very interesting exhaust on it. I felt like a needed my shots after taking it off. It had more rust than a 80's Honda quarterpanel and more holes in it than a donut shop. Quieted that f'er down big time, though there is still a minor leak in the factory cat on that car. When I replace the SZ test pipes that I have on the Slicktop now with the new stuff Greg has for it, I'll move those over to the 90 too!

I currently have 3 Z's. a 1990 NA, 1992 Slicktop and a 1994 Twin Turbo.

It's been around for a while, but SZ now makes 2.25" test pipes for NA, aparently much quieter, which is what I'm going for. Currently I have 2.5" non-resonated Test pipes, and resonated exhaust. The new setup will be 2.25" test pipes which are resonated, 2.5" exhaust which is also resonated. Eventually, I'll switch that to 2.25" as well.

I was just wondering if you run test pipes ( i.e no cats? ) then wont you get a check engine light? Also if do the egr delete doesnt that actually hurt your car and u still have the check engine light on? I just finished doing my transmisson and now im buying parts for a full engine rebuild so im trying to get as much info as possible cause once i put the engine back in i dont want to take it out again for awhile.

The short answer to that question is that no, I don't get a check engine light. Though I didn't before I got the ECU either, all the aftermarket ECU flashes, delete the CEL's for EGR and AIV's which were removed when I yanked off the EGR. AIV was disconnected when test pipes were installed.

I haven't had any problems with the EGR delete. The car runs like a top.

Sounds like you have a good start there. Should make for a healthy NA.

I would certainly suggest doing some suspension modifications, they have been the most enjoyable modifications that I have done since I've had this car.

*Yawn*

I can't believe I haven't touched this thread since last year. I went into super work mode for about the last 6 months, off the grid for the most part.

I generally don't like to change a whole lot while autocross season is going, which is why I didn't touch the car at all really after the last update, but we're getting ready to start up the 2010 autocross seasons and there are several things on the horizon that I'll be working on, I just made a decent size purchase today as well, so it got me thinking that I should probably bring this thread back from the dead.

Update pending. Stay tuned.

I've been waiting for the season to start just so I can see what progress your making, I've read through this entire thread at least 4 times this last month. You're an inspiration and one of the big reasons I tracked down a slicktop of my own, other than the obvious pure sex. You've got alot of fans here man don't leave us out. Good luck on the updates and the upcoming season, give us some more things to drool over.

Haha, I'm actually looking to get into AutoX as well, since the SCCA is sponsoring an even on the runway here at NAS Lemoore, and I'm stoked! I loved reading your thread the first time, and glad to see you bringing it back!
