Ok, the new fuel pump is in, and im not hearing grinding anymore lol. But it doesnt want to idle off of load (when decelerating in neutral). I reset the timing by removing tps and using timing light w/ ghetto rigged spark plug wire. Now its idling better.

Couple minor updates. Had to rebuild the starter because the armature crapped out on me. Installed a fuel pressure and tach gauge. Snagged an LC-1, so I can actually start driving the car, something I should have had a long time ago. Don't worry, the 7.4 afr is because I havent calibrated everything yet. Hopefully I can get this on the road this weekend and see what it does. I decided to install everything in the center vent location and I think its pretty pimp.

new to the rb world, nor new to drifting or boost lol.. i stumpled across project sky40. i read every post on here. i have a couple of questions seeing that this is one baller setup. hats off to you man. where would a guy like me find a r32 crossmember? how much do they usually run? iam also curious to this hockey puck mounting system.. i saw it and knew i wanted one. i currently have a s13 iam rbing soon. its my drift slut and right now iam working on saving money to purchase an rb20det. i was planning on doing the mckinney mounts but if i can find a r32 crossmember for the same price i would rather do that. ive been researching on this motor swap for about 2 months now. i was debating on either the sr or rb. when i saw an rb swap for the first time i was sold on one. srs are way to common. not wanting to nor trying to steal this thread by no means. any input would be extremly helpfull. thank you chris

No worries bro. Yeah the xmember isnt too costly. Search around, you should be able to locate one for under $200 pretty easily. The hockey pucks havent given me a single problem yet. They feel better than the ka mounts did. I agree, I dont prefer SR's. The RB can handle 300hp without troubles with the iron block. 400 is another story (ill explain below). My setup is far from baller, just a way to get 350-400hp without spending too much on it. If youre new to the RB's try out the rb20 first, then maybe step up later. I dont understand why folks purchase the 25 or 26 and stop at 300-400 hp. Just doesnt seem worth it to me. If I did a 25 or 26 id go for 450 or more hp's. I mean heck after 7k whos countin?

Yers there are updates, but not all of them are peachy. Ran into the inevitable troubles of the smaller 2.0 motor. So heres what happened:

I had a rough tune on the motor after I got CarlH's ecu thing figured out and hooked up the lc1. Did a couple test runs and everything was great. About the 4th or 5th test run I started losing coolant-and fast! A few inspections revealed faulting hoses throughout. All replaced. All is well right? WRONG. On the very next test run the HG said bye bye. Luckily, tore the head off, and no damage has been found. Going with a fully supported setup now, including ARP studs. So far ive only done the water pump, but I have a full gasket kit ready to go. Just need to get the idler, tensioner, performance timing belt and it all goes back together. Oh, and im rebuilding the turbo for peace of mind. The car pulled insanely hard after 4k rpms. Can't wait to get it all back together.

my hood closes.I have it propped in the back to keep it cooler. to get seamless clearance, all you have to do is put some double sided tape or some oil on the high points of the motor, close the hood, and wherever the oil touches on the hood-trim that section out. i used an angle grinder to trim mine. 1 and 1/2 hockey pucks would probably work too.

CarlH did my wiring harness but:

The only wires I ran from the transmission are for the speed signal and the reverse light. Theres more than one way to get the tach signal. I ran my tach signal off of the ecu with a soldered resistor. Check around on the forum for more specific info.

i havent figured out if my reverse lights work being that the car was automatic before i bought the car lol, i have to figure out how to get the reverse lights to work with the manual transmission. i was curious why there where so many connectors not connected.. i might just deloom the harness and take those connectors completly out. i really need a lift lol

Powered,
Consider a CarlH harness. Better than OEM, and drop-in. One of the better investments that I have made.

:ohno: I must finish! Had to get all the parts before the rebuild could truly begin. About ready to put her back together. Might be a little while before it starts since weather isn't friendly at the moment. We'll see what happens.

Cold weather seems to finally be breaking. Minor updates, and hoping to get it all done this month.

Feels good to be back. Been so busy with school. Installed a new thermostat yesterday. Everything under the intake mani is done. But now theyre saying we've got another 3-6 inches of snow coming so I'll have to play the waiting game. If this keeps up I might have to break out the space heater lol...

Which intercooler should I use?

Believe it or not, I hit a pothole that grabbed the intercooler by the edge and pulled it under the car. Mounting the new one as high as possible. :tisk:

Far too low. People warned me it might happen. The car sits low as it is and this was a big pothole-but it was my fault. I have since re-mounted it 3 inches higher so there's plenty of clearance this time.

if you have a mig welder handy Ive used that a few times to get studs out of nissan heads. Works so amazing. Ive tapped one exh stud out, and I never want to do it that way again.

Not yet, just got back from out of town. Then I had a close family member pass, so I'm behind schedule. Still hasn't warmed up yet though...
What injectors did you run? I'm thinking about going with 650's instead of the 550's. Did you run a custom mani? What about the tune, are you just going with a rom tune or something else?

I see. Megasquirt allows you to really fine tune things. What power output levels are you looking at? I'm guessing 400-450 on low boost (18-22psi), well low boost for the holset lol?

It's still like 45 degrees here and windy, Im tired of the cold so Im not going out there until its in the 60's.

Yeah I love the MS, its crazy, you can do almost anything.

I haven't dynoed it, hopefully this year. Id like to think around 400rwhp on 15psi, spikes to 18
