hey all

so i just got my project silvia tie rod set up today

i put my friends on today also and when we were doing it we noticed that they didnt provide enough spacers to lower the angle enough so that it is parallel to the ground

so first question is what did you do about this? we looked everywhere for spacers that would fit but couldnt find anything!

also the inner spacers i wasnt sure if the went before or after the flat locking washer thingy that it also comes with i assume afterwards but im not sure can anybody tell me what they did?

and lastly

i dont think the project silvia outers are even long enough so i had consittered using a longer bolt and use spacers in there and bolt it down similar to the set up of the outers but so i can lower the outer more to keep it parallel

curretnly i have pretty shot stock ones and they are pulled up like crazy and my car isnt even that low yet

help?

thanks

Throw away the locking washer for the inner rods. Use some blue loctite and tq it good. Dont use anything other than what was provided with the outters. Doing so may cause damage to the parts, your car, or it may even kill you if you modify it with different parts. Just put it on.Oh yeah, search next time. You could have found the answers quicker than it took to type all of that and this out.

i did search but i guess not good enough

my friend and i installed some on his car right now and its not super low but it is pretty low and the ends are maxed out

i measured that the ends get roughly +/- 22 degrees of angle and his with the weight on the wheels is maxed out like crazy

i was thinking that when i install them, i need to extend the inners out maybe and inch farther than his so that its hover directly under the spindle

where as his is pulled more towards the rack and is maxing out the ends, he got his car aligned i thought they would have fixed that but i guess not

can you shed some light on that situation then so i wouldnt have to fab up anything

See my sig? I was running tien inners and outters. Just put the damn things on and dont worry about it. Its not like your doing scca, hpde, GT2, ALMS, or F1 racing, so it really doesnt matter that much. They dont need to be perfectly level with the lower control arm. So in conclusion, you are overthinking it. Put them on and be done with it.

i was hoping to do some scca this year

and i dont believe im taking this to an extreme level

ive lowered my car and poped both my tie rods, car couldnt be aligned felt weird all that good stuff

not to mention the horrible things that could happen if a tie rod malfunctions

better to be sure and safe in my oppinion

sure its not going to be anywhere near factory settings but i want them to function properly, not be maxed out just sitting on load
