Project QX4 MPG is now...

Kaput!

As of now, my project is offline. It'd take me 5 years just to recoup costs assuming current. Just not worth doing any of my mods currently for various reasons.

Steprails: Wife is pregnant, she needs them right now.Intake, Warn Hubs, Wheels: MPG gains not enough to offset cost at current prices.

Synthetics: worth doing just for the added protection, but not worth it for fuel savings.

All others: Not worth it until gas is back up to $4+ a gallon.

So, given how things are, I think it's going to go one of two ways in a couple of years:

Gas will shoot back up after demand stops lagging and make it worth my $$$ to do my mods. Or...

I'll end up buying another vehicle (I like the Land Cruiser and LX470, but only the 2007s) and turning my QX into a baja rig which will in turn change the nature of some of my mods. But if I go baja rig, I'm going all the way. I'll make a QX4 unlike anything anyone's ever seen! (in a good way though)

i hear you, were paying almost half of what we were in the summer for gas here in canada.....i ended up installing subs/amp and i put my cargo cover back in...gas doesnt bother me anymore. I had budgeted $80 a week for gas 2 months ago....i find myself spending that money on other useful things now like beer.

i dont care about gas either qxx4. if u have an suv get ready to pay for gas and stop complaining u have an suv!.. an speaking of beer friday night i am getting trashed at a party!!! yeah!! now i need to focus on studying of rmy damn geography exam than i can reward myself!

Ha ha! Yeah, because you live where gas is cheap in comparison to everywhere else. Fueler and I live in San Deezy, always in top ten most expensive gas in US.

At the height, I was filling my tank up at $4.75 at the CHEAP place. And I drive about 425 miles a week. Averaging 15 mpg. Do the math, its expensive.

Or WAS. Doesn't matter anymore.

I just filled the civic up with 100 octane @ $8/gal. Not a cheap fill-up.

But thats the cost you gotta pay if you want to up the boost to 20 psi to destroy and humiliate an 08 dodge viper R/T. And then piss all over an 04 cobra on 15 psi.
