Well im taking the engine and transmission out of my red 92 Q45. I have already done this 4 times so far, 2 times taking the engine and transmission out and 2 times putting them in. It all started as a car given to me by my family. Before i got the Q the engine was no good but the transmission was good. the car stayed in storage for 4 years till i recieved the car on my 16th birthdate. I got it and saved up money by working. I spent $1100 with tax and shipping for the VH45De engine with 50,000 miles on it. It was tested and everything. The first time i took the engine out was to get rid of the bad engine. Then i attached the new motor to the transmission from the original engine everything went as planned and me and my dad put it in. But the black plate that covers the bottom of the flexplate was backwards causing (when the engine was on) to spark, my dad forgot to put it right it slipped his mind so we took the whole thing out i fixed the problem and put it back in the car. The engine came out to be excellent. but the transmission didnt want to grab nothing, it didnt want to go forward or back. I called some transmission shops in my area and they told me the cylinoids inside the transmission went bad because the transmission sat for so long causing the cylinoids to get clogged. Trust me i connected everything back the way it was to spec. so right now im in process in taking out the VH45DE engine for the 3rd time (5th overall) with the transmission still installed on it. I went out to buy myself a low mileage transmission that has been test. the transmission cost me $320well im putting up pics of this project. The fastest i ripped out the whole motor and transmission and putting the pieces together again and putting it in the car was a day and a half. but that was all for nothing since the transmission went bad. this time im going to take my time and post pics of this project. Maybe i will make a how to on dissasembling and assembling a VH45 motor to its original transmission.

I also got some extra parts here for sale (will sell them at good prices) cause i dont need them. I got the two front seat motors with the rails. they work i just took them out of the ripped front seats i had. i replaced the ripped front seats with two perfect seats with no rips on the leather and they came with the motors and everything. I also got two good motor mounts that came from the blown engine. They are in good condition. I also have an oil pan if anybody needs one. i'll post up pics of this stuff too.

[IMG][/IMG]Me the 16 almost 17 yr old teenager who likes vip stlye cars oh yea thats my other Q45 in the background its a Y33 body 1998. I was also doing some work on the black Q. i had to change the driver side strut mount thats why the car looks like it in the air kinda uneven

[IMG][/IMG]Took the hood off the car

[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]Took out the air intake out

[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

Lifted the whole car up and took off the rims

[IMG][/IMG]twist the little nob to drain the antifreeze[IMG][/IMG] As you can see on the floor a little dripped when i twisted the nob all the way

Hope you reinstall the OEM CAI.

Used transmissions are a real crapshoot and not worth the soon to be repaeated labor time unless you have a lot of spare time. Don't forget to replace the rear main seal this time if you didn't last time.

After seeing this I won't complain as loudly next time I have to remove the plenum on one of my Q's. Nice looking car and wheels.

How would one test a JATCO AT except with a custom designed transmission dyno OR installing it in a vehicle and then conducting pressure and driving tests.............................tested used might be a lie?

Just like the JDM engines === age is just as important to mileage from a rotting standpoint.

Since finding such a dyno is limited to JATCO in Tennessee or a mass rebuilder in AZ.

Seriously, Andre, major props to you for getting in there and doing the work you've done and looks like you'll continue to do.

I have yet to remove the plenum because of laziness, and after reading this thread I feel 10x lazier than before!

Please keep us updated on progress.
