Project JDM Pony

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

Allow me to introduce myself and my project. I originally was going the route of just turbocharging my S14 with the original engine. But after much research I've decided to go ahead and put a V8 in her. I've decided to go with Ford's 302 engine from the 5.0 mustangs. The reason why I decided to go with this engine then the LS1 is because of money reasons. The 302 from the mustangs has a lot of support for it and would be easy to raise the power on the engine; the parts are pretty cheap as well. Here's the only snag that I ran into... Im not a mechanic lol and was wondering the steps I would need to go into making this project a reality. I already know Im going to make custom motor mounts to make the engine fit. I've done some searching and I've only seen one other guy on here thats done this in his S13. All your help would be appreciated and when I have this project done there will be a write up and lots of pics.

Not trying to be a D1ck, but just keep searching around. I know lots of people have put V8's in 240's.

Decide on a transmission, find the right oil pan (front sump) (might need to go custom if you have the money to allow for max clearance of the intake manifold), make some mounts (engine and transmission), buy a Holley Commander 950 for engine management, and put it all together.

I've had a 302 sitting in my S14 w/ a C4 behind it. It's going to be a little bit of work, but it is definitely possible.

I was thinking a T5 or a T56 transmission(any suggestions). How did it run when you had the 302 sitting in your S14 Will I have to do any modification to my hood to make it fit?

I moved and decided to scrap the project before ever getting it running. I had a Peterson dry sump setup on it and it still was going to require me to cut into the hood a bit. I think a stock pan might allow more clearance than I had, but it definitely fit.

I'm not sure about how easy it will be to find a bellhousing that will allow a T-56 to fit. There are obviously ways around that, but a proper T-5 or TK500/TK600 will do just fine.

T56's are pretty big. Have to cut the transmission tunnel in a Z32 to make them fit, can only assume that the S14 chassis has even less room there...

It will be expensive if you can't do it yourself. Buy a welder, do a course, or just practise it's easy enough with a MIG.

You'll need a custom driveshaft to mate whatever gearbox to the R200.

Those 302's, they carby or injected? Bit of wiring either way, have fun with the speedo and tacho

If you don't think you can do it yourself, maybe aim for something a little less ambitious. SR20's are always nice
