I want to know the best way to increase gas millage. My s14 gets 24mpg or so. Im rocking the ka and dont plan on changing that. I dont care about more power that's what my FD is for. The things done to the car are a catback exhaust(on when i bought car),and K&N drop in filter(stock air box assembly). Im going to put a 4-2-1 header on the car to increase flow hoping to pick up some more mpg. I started this thread to get some ideas. If gas goes back to $4.00 a gallon again I might have to get into a stupid honda, unless I can get more millage from my s14.

there is a following of people that all they do is try to increase their MPG though any means..

Remove all items that create excess drag...Mirrors, spoilers, cut holes in the rear bumper, etc.

Get rid of Powersteering and A/C and all of it's components. Making the car lighter = less power needed.

Removing excess trim pieces and spare tire all that crap in the trunk

Tires, Tune Up, and overhaul of all those old crappy parts such as the fuel pump, injectors, sensors, etc.

I know I know, thats over board... thought i would have fun

One of the biggest areas to focus is driving habits :P

As far as cold air intake, I would think the metal pipe would hold in heat better than the stock plastic.

I change oil every 2500 miles. Im not really looking for lost mpg but boosting the mpg. My window sticker that came with the car says 23mpg, Im getting 24 but want more mpg.

^ Every 2500 is just a waste of oil. You're throwing your money down the drain. Changing it that early does nothing. OP, as stated ^ the best way to improve mpgs is to drive like a grandma, keep air in your tires, tune up, etc....

Oh, and have you thought about a hydrogen booster?

^ 2500 miles is just my rotary habit. I do it to make myself think Im doing something constructive to my car (hate not having a project car). I guess Im doomed to only 23-25 mpg.
