I've read lots of threads where people weren't happy with their built up ka, and it looks like bolt ons don't deliver anything close to their claimed hp. Everyone is giving me the idea to go SR20det, and that's probably why "SR20det sucks" was created. Anyways I don't have the time for any kind of turbo, or money. Any turbo would be atleast 4,000 and even if I had that money I could pick up an excellent condition 944 for it. (plus i wanna keep the very good reliability the n/a ka has to offer)

Sooo.. what if I built the KA using used parts? In the buy sell forum there are lots of parts for real cheap, and if I spend around 500 and don't get the power I was expecting it won't be too bad of a heartbreak. I was thinking:

$125 custum 2.5inch catback$150 hotshot headers$100 asp pully (new)$100 injen intake

$500 used or $1050 new This all is like 20hp, thats hopefully going to break into 6's for 0-60.. maybe 6.8 or 6.9 but atleast stupid cars like civic si's won't embarrase me. So what do you think? And if it doesn't work out I could always sell everything for what I got it for.

Thing that worries me is hs headers will probably be the old ones because hs recently improved them. I'll have to look for an alternative like used pacesetter headers (I hear they are bullet proof) and a gutted cat or something to equal hs. should be easier to install too since it's smaller. won't have to take appart steering

For love of god never say pacesetter, EVER....

They are hit with a black coating but they will seriously rust in no time.. And I've never heard of a single person being happy with their products.. It's just cheap parts that's all it is. You get what you pay for in this game..

yup I just noticed that thread just pop up.. headers I'm not sure about and catback exhuast I'll have to look into which bend would be best for a custum catback and what to look for in a used one.. Still have to look into that but I'm in no rush.

question apzak:

how many '69 911 turbos were targas? is this common? as for the 4K for a 944...that may get you the car, but then you gotta pay to keep it up. it may drive home, and it may be sheyat loads of fun getting there, but only until it goes...UGH UGH UGH clunk. oh, and dont get red. the cops love the red 944's. my guards red is thankfully faded to a nice (what i like to call) florida-red-orange. yeah, the '97 911 TT is my pick as well. arena red metallic, i'd have to say. weeeeeeeeeeeee

Nah it's not turbo, read the posts on porsches again.. they came out in 73.. the "T" in my car stands for "Touring" and the "Touring" trim had weber carburators.. I wish it was turbo but in 69 there was no such thing as a turboed sports car, the 911 in 73 was the first turbo sports car ever built.. corvairs weren't sports cars. As for the 944, There was a 944 on ebay with a NEW engine, lots of work for 4000, good condition. That will last, and not need upkeeping as often, if anything it would be easier to upkeep than the SR because any turbo is more work than n/a, and you can't say the 944 is old cause s13 engines are just as old. for 8k I could get a turbo 944.. thats nice as sick.. but I'd have to get the 89 because those are "turbo s" trims. more power and everything upgraded.
