No, i didnt get paint in the head at all b/c the machine shop painted the head for me.
No, i didnt buy the ssautochrome turbo kit. The only thing from them is my mani. i didnt want to spent that much on one, and i didnt want to get the jgs b/c i dont have a welder to finish it. i also dont like the log-style manifolds. Hopefully the ssa mani will work long enough untill i get a welder to make my own custom equal-length mani.
i planned on putting the rest of the motor together this past weekend, but the damn machin shop ordered me the wrong gasket set. I took the SOHC kit back and the kits for the DOHC are $41 more. Im kinda broke at the moment so i guess ill have to wait until i get my next paycheck. I still need to get the turbo oil lines and fittings, modify the oil pan, get some belts, thermostat, distributor, and DOHC power steering lines. Im supposed to get the ps lines from this guy jeff that parts out s13's, and im hoping i can get the distributor from him also.
Ive got some questions. 1. as far as the power steering, do i just need the lines, or do i need the rack too?
2. What timing should i go with?
3. What should i use for the oil feed, and return oil lines?
4. I got a oil pressure gauge, so wouldnt i need a 4way fitting to connect it, the stock pressure switch, and the oil feed line?or do i even need the stock oil pressure switch?
2) Depends on how much boost you're running and what you're using for fuel/ignition management.
3) The JGS oil feed and return lines work. Make sure you get an oil restrictor. Also, make sure you get the 4ft oil feed line, and the 24" oil return kit. Anything shorter than those and there won't be any slack.
4) You don't need the stock oil pressure switch if you don't mind the oil light being on and rely solely on the oil gauge. Otherwise you would need a whole slew of adapters and 3-ways to convert from BPST TO NPT and vice versa. And the whole assembly might be so long that it'll hit the alternator. My setup almost did.
