My friend has a 97 and was looking for a daily driver so he picked up a 91 coupe with a big ol hole in the block for cheap, supposably the engine still ran before we took it out but we are reusing the head so we didnt want to chance it.

here's the large hole punched by the rod, while the rod was flopping around it also broke the steering rack...we think.

The endless work begins...

Looks like a good platform, neutral color. Straight body?

chassis is major accident free, SE everything but leather. The fender had been taken off but I couldnt see any bent metal, its got some rust on it but not terible for a 15 year old midwest car. If theres any obscure block parts anybody is looking for shoot me an email. I only plan on keeping a rod and piston or two rest of block is getting tossed.

You cant fix a broken block, you need a replacement.

i bought an 89 as a parts car but ended up using it as my project due to a drunk hitting my original project car... but it had a hole in the block right about there too, threw a rod right through.. got it for cheap though.... Time for an sr20

I guess that question came off sort of stupid. I meant do you have to replace the entire engine or just the block. Im replacing the engine, even it is possible to replace just the block, it would obviously be more expensive/harder. But was just curious.
