Beautifully done street driven drift car with Battles. Makes me want the CST's in the back and Battles in the front. 17/18 ftw.

aligned. delicious. absolute corner monster. knuckles feel awesome, steering is criiiiiisp.

the only thing this car hates now, is the amish buggy-pitted/crowned roads.

but the roads to my alignment shop, are heaven. fresh paved touge-status awesomeness. my alignment guy was AWESOME and he loved all the PSM stuff, said its some of the best product he's worked with and was gravy to align with them. he also liked the car... a LOT.... aligned it to bumnahs suggested specs (thanks dude!) and complimented me on such a thorough suspension build. his words: "thing thing will LOVE corners"

im pretty stoked.

however, my thermostat decided to crap the bed, and now i gotta swap that out today. overheating SUCKS.

well. i WAS having fun.

put new thermostat and rad cap in. bled it like crazy, for hours... literally multiple hours. found HUGE air pockets. bled again. then it cooled off normally, ran fine for 10 mins, then MASSIVE air pockets. bled... etc. it somehow is MAKING air pockets. so either the waterpump is severely messed up (less than 2 years old), the HG is leaking compression into the coolant, or something entirely different.

the radiator is a year old. not clogged.

top rad hose is HOT and high pressure. lower rad hose is cold to the touch, and NO pressure to it.

im pulling the waterpump tomorrow. if its not that, then the hell with the KA, ill just start building the SR up and let this car sit again til its done.

I hope your heater core isn't leaking... could be spillin into the cabin.

But yea either that orrr your head gasket is fukin with ya. There has to be somewhere for this coolant to go. There's only 2.5 gallons needed in an oem system iirc.

This will be the best $30 you spent on tools:

The Snap-On man sells it. Buy it. It pretty makes the radiator fill the highest point in the system and bleeds the system perfectly. I spent 15 minutes bleeding with this bad boy.

You can also check for white milky stuff in your oil, if the head gasket is leaking.

Make sure you're bleeding with the heater on, and on high.

The specs I gave you is what I'm running. Pretty standard stuff for the most part. Good starting point, you can adjust camber as needed based off of tire temps on the track, and wear pattern. If it's a street car, leave the s*** alone.

Glad you like the knuckles. How stable is it at high speeds. Do you feel confident in the car at 100 mph and turning the wheel? I know it's not on the track, but I'm sure you've gotten it up to 100 mph already.

If romping on it in 5th gear means 100mph, then yes. Sadly, the speed sensor isn't plugged in so we never knew how fast we were going. It moved though...

i think the problem is beyond bleeding right now. FML

we did give her some GOOD highway romps to test highspeed stability/confidence so i could give you guys feedback. purely scientific.

felt really good. and since the speed sensor isnt hooked up, lets say i was doing "55mph" cus i have no way to disprove that.

then it overheated really sweet. awesome. and at this point, id only be able to drive it for another 2ish months, til winter hit... soooo SR build may happen.

official verdict comes tomo

so, new water pump, no thermo, flow checked the rad, flushed the coolant sytem....

hooked it back up, didnt overheat yet, but still bubbling from the rad... headgasket?

so, trying some of that gypsy "headgasket fix" in a bottle tomo from work. what have i got to lose at this point? nothing. as long as this motor can make it to meets this fall, and stayed parked over winter as the SR is built, ill be totally content.

getting the SR set up at my parents place so i can work on it more freely.

sooo the $4 Bar's Leaks coolant/hg sealer works. car runs cool. pulls like a monster for a DOHC ka.... must have been leaking compression for a while, into the coolant....

the sr plans are oem rebuild with metal HG and strengthened studs. s15bb w/ 550cc's and n62 maf. 300+whp. parts shop max high mount intercooler, parts shop max radiator, wire tuck, summit racing chassis harness, moroso oil pan, external oil cooler

that wont be cheap, but itll be sweet.

stay tuned

painless wiring sells a nice chassis wiring setup as well. i've tossed around the idea of using that in place of my oem wiring.

indeed. however, summit is $150-200 cheaper and a lot of local race teams use these and come highly recommended. and i plan to keep oem style functionality (aka using the oem key cylinder to trigger the leads for the chassis harness instead of painless switches)

If I ever go as far as to replace oem wiring, I'll be making the car a full track car. Lexan windows and the whole shebang.
