As some of you may know... I've been slowly building up a cache of parts and money. And has brought me to where I am today. Shooting for around 500whp and high 10's in the 1/4mi, with decent traction of course.

First off let me tell this to the people who are trying to get high horsepower and good reliability. IT IS NOT CHEAP! dont say you want to build at fast car but don't wanna spend $750-$1800 for a good engine management. Its not going to work like that.

Parts along with prices....-Sds em3-4f,(included pulley with magnets, and a mounting bracket) $1000-Head job, 3-angle valve job, Tomei heavy-duty springs. $500-Wiseco, 83.5mm 8.2:1 pistons. $475-Pauter rods, arp 2000 bolts. $725-Precision 1000cc low imp. $325-ssac fmic (i know, i know) $250-ssac mani $135-Garrett Gt3076r .63ar (real dual ball-bearing) $1100-Misc fittings, flanges, piping, liquids, nuts and bolts $350-Nismo FPR $115-Nissan oil pump $190-ARP headstuds 202-4702 $110-ACL race series bearings $115-Gasket set $150-CenterForce clutch kit $350-MSD DIS-2 h.o. $200-All machine work... (includes lighten and balance flywheel and pressure plate assembly, Polish crank, hot-tank block, bore, hone, deck, line-bore mains, file fit rings, full precision dynamic balance, and bottom end assembly)$875

Total so far......$6965

Things I still need:-Time, time, time -Synapse Engineering 40mm wastegate and blow-off valve. $500-Some type of boost controller probably Blitz D-sbc spec-R $350

Here are some pictures of where I stand as of today. Front mount being mounted

My hair dryer. Soon to see some 28psi abuse

Fresh oil pump, fresh block, and my -4 feed fitting

Decked block, clean pistons, mmmmm

Underside, my pauters looking purrrrdy!

My wiseco and pauter set-up installed

The head looking good, tried to do a lil blue to black fade scheme, also 1000cc squirters, and Nismo fpr

Lightened and balanced flywheel with clutch disc

ARP's all lubed up, copper sprayed headgasket.

Winning set-up, hopefully...

The clean a** head and decent looking paint. ahh cant wait

Me torquing down the head on the ARP studs.

My g/f helpin me with my build. lol.

Where it sits today.......

Ill continually be updating this thread. I have an ETA of about 5-6weeks.

THere ya go guys. Feedback is welcome and if anyone has questions ask away. Thanks everyone.

kapower06 - Build looks nice, I have a few questions; How much weight was taken off the flywheel and what did that cost you? Also, you've put alot of detail into the paint...but havent painted the block...why is that?

sydwayz- why all the internal work and such a small turbo? None the less good build up. only 3 years? lol not too bad. It takes a good chunk of money to do it right. Good luck...

mbmbmb23- Thanks alot. There was right at 5 pounds taken off. I believe they charged $60 to lighten it and another 25 to balance it. Also I painted the top stuff(Intake mani, fuel rail, valve covers and timing covers because I figure thats all that will be easily visible, Plus I like the look of cast iron, and it shows if there is any leaks or seeps. plus I got lazy!!!

i just wanted everything internal done rite so i could drive it i dont really care what turbo im runnin rite now cuz im breakin it in n~e wayz plus it doesnt take long to just throw on a top mount mani with a gt35r on it but what does take long is getting the money and that lil baby is good for 20 pounds of boost its enof for sum fun. i mean **** my guys ca stock at 20psi ran a 13.1 with a slippin clutch and garbage tires so i know im in the mid to high 12s now then when i get her pushin 30-35 psi on drag radials whats that gna b like WWHOOOO YEEAHHH

My beast will have to get on an aiplane to get the machine work done. I'm not haveing the local hacks touching frank, off to Tomei Tokyo or Naprec in Nagoya. I didn't see any cams in your parts list KA, typo?

+1 for cute girlfriend.

TMS- I knew I forgot a few things.

-Cams Dee Spec. 270* 8.8mm lift $375

Bringing the total up to- $7340

Thats $7340 for just the engine and turbo set-up.

Then Im getting a decent suspension set-up probably k-sport's or megan racing. A roll cage, some 5-point harnesses, and some some good drag radials. Should be able to get it how I want it within a budget of $10,000 so far I still have $2660 for suspension, cage, harnesses, and tires.

Looks awesome man, can't wait to see it in action. The ssac front mount is nothing to sneeze at though, it doesnt take much in the way of brains to weld end tanks to a core.

good luck getting her up and running.

Im currently waiting for my gasket set to come in which should be tuesday. From there I can get everything back together on the engine besides the turbo. I still need to buy a damn manifold. which will be next week. From there I will bolt up the turbo and get the oil/water lines sorted and start the install and routing of the SDS's wiring harness.

Hey thanks guys. It really helps to have people encouraging me to get it done. Just a few more things and she'll be alive!!!

Then break it in, hit a dyno, and show you guys what time and money will do for the ca18.

I hope this is inspiration for some of you other guys to "get in gear" and finish (or begin) your projects. It awesome to finally see everything coming together. Totally worth every penny!

If someone would buy my ****in turbo kit! I have head flanges being cut out as we speak, mild steel tubing to mock up the manifold is coming as well and I pick up the turbo and wastegate flanges this week. Twin turbos and twin wastegates crazy enough for you?Metals online is trying to source me some 321 stainless plate to dupe the flanges in the same metal as the final manifold will be.If everyone can get their projects done, this time next year should see a lot of crazy engines on the board.

Twin turbos and twin gates should be awesome. I hope we can get a lil group of high hp ca's together. Good luck on making the manifold. Its hard to get people with ca's to buy anything that is decently priced. Good luck tho!

Its not that I dont want to buy anything that is decently priced, but being a poor college student makes it hard to afford food, let alone car parts.

good lukc, Driver skill and suspension is KEY! if your not willing to break parts youll never achieve your goal. Im aiming for 10.90s on stock bottom end. and i promise ill get there, just gonna be a matter of time and tuning.

Good luck!

I am not going to drag race it. The twins would suck from a dead stop unless I feel like using the stutterbox at every light. I am shooting for just starting to see positive pressure around town and then winding it out on the highway. The larger displacement should help off boost.

Thanks MasterZenki, yeah its awesome that I have the opportunity to spend lots of money to get where I've always dreamed of. Yeah my girl helps out alot, shes awesome, and sexy! WHat more could I ask for. lol. I dont plan on draggin it alot. So thats not my main concern. More for highway and battling the big boys. (ta's, camaros, cobras, z06's, maybe a viper or two if im on 30-32psi and race gas) .

---Update, tonight my gaskets came in and I got the oil pump, oil pick up, oil filter block, rear main seal, and oil pan all buttoned up. woo-hoo!!! I also finished installing the SDS's hall sensor mounting bracket.

Wow, looking good. Should be a solid strong setup when you are done.

A couple of your pics remind me of my build.

Haha. ill be watching the rest of your build. I look forward to seeing your final setup and power levels.

Alright, Alright!!!

Here are some updated pics.

Got the oil pick-up tube bolted on, the oil pan all tightened down, the SDS's hall sensor mounting bracket, and the new front and rear main seals. I need a new water pump, I forgot about it........damnit. lol.

Tomorrow Im ordering my manifold and oil/water fittings along with a 4bolt-to-3" v-band downpipe flange. followed by ordering my wastegate and blow off valve the following week. Afterthat its just a matter of time before I get it running. Woo-Hoo

BTW, Im going to be trying the new Synapse synchronic wastegate and bov. Hopefully they will perform as well as they say. We'll see.

As always thanks for the ongoing support. I promise to put out big numbers for all ca18 owners to show that all you need is some boost. lol.

Nice setup, but one question-- why would you do all that motorwork and then use an SSAC manifold? Since you are spending all the loot anyway, I would send that manifold off to full-race and have them make you one of their manifolds.

Good Question.

I really don't know why! lol. I just dont think ssac manifolds are that bad. Just clean up the ports and re-brace them and I see no problem. Plus it would probably take a month or so for someone to make a manifold, and atleast $750-$1000 I just cant justify it.

On the other hand, If im not satisfied with the power output of the 3076r than im more than likely going twin scroll gt35r with custom divided manifold.
