so i got a wild hair in my @$$ this weekend and decided that i was tired of having a half primer/half oxidized black paint job. here's a couple pictures of what has been done so far.....

before

and here's some of the car in progress and up till now

car going into the "paint booth

my high tech ventilation system

more pics

results up till now

but you gotta watch for the overspray

so yeah my weekend has been fun so far...after a 2 hour hunt for paint and finding only 5 cans, we finished the first coat and decided to wait till daylight to do the rest...lots of fun though..kinda learn on the fly

paint 5.99 a can * 10 for krylon rust gaurd...i too have a paint gun but i dont have a compressor or any actual know how when it comes to painting cars like that...i am however quite familiar with spray paint becuase i have been using it for a while on everything...but everything ive read about painting says that the prep work is the most important part. so i spent the better half of friday and saturday doing that.

Looks real good so far. Are you going to keep it matte black like the pics or are you going to gloss it? Nice job anyway keep it up

I will do it to my car. I will not use krylon except for the primer coat, you all should follow that example as well.

Remember to sand the crap out of your old paint kids...

Please be careful while painting the car yourself. It is very easy to mess up automotive paint. Runs very easy and if it is not wet sanded well, it wont have that nice shine. Just one mistake can leave you wanting to kick yourself inn the a$$. Make sure you get a nice aircompressor that supply the neccessary amount of air for the gun. If you havn't already, it would also behoove you to read up on it quite a bit. But, good luck and I hope that you are happy with the final results. Male sure you post the pics as soon as you are finished.

rattle cans never run out of air....sept when they run out of paint......projekt all one color is complete i will post pictures tomorrow ....there are some lines in the roof and some lines on the trunk...but who cares not me my car is finally all one color again.....i willl admit that if i had rented a compressor, used my paint gun, and all that it probalby would have looked better but that would cause me to spend more money than i did.....

next project eta is 1.5 months......5 lug conversion, z33 rims, 30mm na z32 calipers, project mu rotors and pads, conversion lines, spl tension rods, nismo power brace...

stay tuned to sdwyzs14 vision

I think he's indicating that it looks damned fine for a Krylon job. This is important because he owns a Sileighty that's like 7 colors....so I'll probably be getting a call any day now about how I need to help him Krylon his car

for what you put into it, your results are remarkable. I hope it holds up to the elements though.

the primered fenders held up for over a year without any color issues the onlly thing wrong with them was oil spots from touching the car while working onn it(color was to bright..)

on another note i will post pics in a month or so of the paint and again in six and again in 12 when i get back from iraq...my car will be sitting for at least 6 months so we will see how it holds up

Looks good. I've thought about primer'ing (sp?) my car. I kinda like the primered look (don't like bling) and if my paint gets bad, I think it would look better. Good Job.
