Please Help Identify wires...

Some info: 92 Hatch, KA24de, bought it a few months ago knowing the motor was blown.

Issue: Shaving engine bay, found 2 small wiring harnesses cut. And I believe the silver cylinder shaped piece is a position sensor of some sort (cams or crank?).

Ill go out and check the coloring of the wires now.

Below is a pic of the cut wires

thats the starter interlock. your car was probably once auto. the other things looks like the auto solenoids. on your lower harness. i suggest getting a 5 spd lower harness and do some re wiring for the speed sensor and the reverse lights. it shouldnt be that hard if you have the fsm.

ooyea what kinda welder do you have? post some specs of it and a pic dude!

Everything finally came today. Before anybody starts flaming, I'm in school still. I have plans for Turbo next year so the header will be getting replaced. Depending on how the ehaust holds up, and how it sounds after turbo will make my decision if I will replace it or not.

AND YES, I realize 3" pipe is going to be LOUD while being N/A.

Worked on the 240 for a few hours (just over 2). Pulled the power steering stuff, pulled the A/C compressor (lines were relatively empty and low pressure).

More work to come tomorrow, mainly grinding out the crap Bondo filler I used (I'm somewhat cheap... I wanted to use what was left but realized again that I hate sanding that crap filler).

Dropped the struts.

Pulled the subframe as a whole.

Showing the relatively clean bay after using 1/3 can of Engine Gunk cleaner and a pressure washer... then dropped the subframe...

Subframe sitting to the side

The stripped interior (still need to pull dash and carpet till I start patching the floor).

I dont want to do that because I plan on running as many wires as I can in the rails.

I'm going to stitch weld 1" and skip 1" on the interior seams after I strip the sound deadening off the floor and patch my rust hole.

THEN

In chassis fab class I'm going to put a cage in the car so I dont see the reason for adding the foam because between stitch welding the seams and putting a cage in... it doesnt seem like it would be needed LOL.

I'm have still not decided if I'm going to tie the pillars into the cage or if I'm going to shave the rear of the interior and make the car also showable. I might make suede zip on sleves for the cage so we will see as the project goes farther.

well seeing as you can afford the cage, go with the cage. Super Stock is the way to go, so make it look nice, too many times have i seen super slick cars just ruined by a blue, black, or red cage on the inside just sticking out like a sore thumb. If you could re-appolster the whole car over the cage on the pillars and such it would make it much less noticable... if you can understand what im saying though. As for me, the foam will do, im poor... all my money will come from a autographed poster, an old doge grand caravan, a few donations from my mom, and maybe if need be a guitar. Hey if anyone wants a custom version of a production guitar hit me up!jk jk this isnt a whore post sorry if i made anyone mad *cough email with picup list and original guitar and any other mods u want with ur nicoclub name cough* lol i need all the easy work i can get! on a different note: What kind of paint did u use to paint the engine? I mean i have an air compressor (my dad's and we have put at least a hundred full tanks of air through it, and only once has my dad shot a nail through his finger lol, and i only got paint on my face 3x lol) but i would rather use a spray paint can, its more universal. SO a pic of the can would be good alongside any discription u can give me... that would majorly help.

I'm going to be making the cage and its only going to cost that of supplies because I will be doing the labor as soon as I am approved in school.

I go to WyoTech and the 1st week of October, I start Chassis Fabrication class. Every weekday for 7.5 hrs of class / shop time. We can build anything we want except for control arms in the class.

As for the paint I used for the block, it was just Duplicolor High Heat Engine Enamel (500* F). As for the valve cover, I used Alsa Corp paint. They have a special spray can with like 3 smaller balls inside to rattle and it has like 2x the pressure and a real nice tip to spray with.

The 1 red Alsa Corp spray paint was $43 shipped or something like that.

Welding continues...

Pic of a weld I put down around 30 minutes ago... then wire brushed it.

I'm getting there, need some more practice for the aesthetics of the welds LOL.

mini bump for a worthy fellow! Thanks for the paint tip... glad to see everything is coming out great!Asthetics of the welds? Geez man dont be so hard on yourself! The weld looks great, if your looking for a nice look use an angle grinder... then use a brush. Its hard to do that though without losing integrety of the weld... but thats all up to you. I know my dad and I use an angle grinder and then a metal brush to clean metal stuff up!Looking good!PS flat out clean welds with paint, in this case that red engine paint or black or something would make it super nice! Just make the welds flat and if you wanted you could use jb weld if you shaved to much off. or bondo if you want to be ghetto yeah u know whats best for that kind of stuff... i wish i could weld... but i dont want to take our school class considering my friend who works on stuff (works with his dad whos a carpenter) got a D+ simply because the teacher just sleeps 4/5 days then randomly writes down a grade... yikes!Keep it bro, lookin great! i especially like the shaved antena, for a while i thought i was the only one into it!

Looking good man, looks like a fun build!

Just noticed that you go to Wyotech, a good friend of mine from up here in NH is there right now, I think he's starting chassis fab in Oct as well, but I'm not sure. He drives a 2004 silver STi, his name's Keith if you've seen him around give him a shout, he's a cool guy.

Good project comming this weekend...

Cutting this in 1/2 width wise. Cutting out fender well infont of strut tower, and off to sides then cuting and shaping the 1/2s to fit. Then filling in 1 side to enclose the new wheel wells.

Started cutting in prep for the inner fenders...

Leveled the car from side to side via laying a level across the rad support and moving the stands little by little. Then picked an area in the outter corners to start the horizontal cut and then put the bottom edge of the level at that and went straight across...

3 cutoff wheels and 1.75 hours later this is the result.

Thanks for the compliments!!!

50 mins of work later... gotta take breaks LOL

Anyhow, I cut it to fit and tacked it in up top to make templates for the sides and came up with some more ideas! New ideas = another probably ~4 hours to this project...

You will notice that I did not clean the paint from the weld zones. I will be popping the fenders back off to cut off a lip and some of the outter side for my idea... so do not worry!
