The cost at my local dealer to purchase a key and remote, then to programme the key was to be $275. So I bought two blank keys and two remotes on the internet. The cost was $45 incl. cutting the two keys. Know I would like to avoid paying $55 to the Dealer to have them "program' the the dealer to do it?

You can program the remotes yourself, but only the dealer can program the keys.

I recently lost all my keys to my 2002 I35, I had the dealer cut a new key and then had a locksmith cut more from that key and program them all. The dealer wanted 1hr labor to program them at $109/hr, the locksmith cost me $35 + the extra keys at $45 each. It took the locksmith 10 minutes to do all of this.

I never had encountered a costly transponder key as our locksmith company offers service at dirt cheap price, but what you shared here seems very interesting. I got to try doing this on my own one of these days. Thanks
