Hello,So I purchased an a keyless entry fob off of ebay and am trying to program it following the instructions given to me on my 05 murano. ( I have included the instructions below). I cannot for the life of me get the hazards to flash in step 2 and therefore can go no further. I have tried at least 100 times and at different speeds. I have an intellikey system as well as a valet key.Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong???

1. Close and lock all doors with the driver's side power lock/unlock switch.

2. Insert key into ignition and remove it from the ignition key cylinder at least six times within 10 seconds. ( Withdraw key completely from ignition cylinder each time ) . Your Hazard lamps will flash if you have performed this step successfully. If this procedure is performed too fast, system will not enter programming mode.

3. Insert key into the ignition cylinder and turn to the ACC position.

4. Within 5 seconds, push the lock button on the keyless remote. Your Hazard Lamps should flash. ( Do not press the button more than one time in the above step). If the button is pressed more than one time, the programming procedure will not be successful.

5. If there are any remaining remotes (including the old ones), unlock then lock all doors using the driver's side power lock/unlock switch and within 5 seconds, push ANY button on the next remote. Your Hazard Lamps should flash. Repeat this step for each keyless remote (including any existing keyless remotes).

6. Turn the key to the OFF position, remove keys from the ignition, unlock doors using the driver's side power lock/unlock switch and open the driver side door

Hey Jars! Welcome to my Forum! Glad to have you here, sorry I missed your phone call, I turn off my cell when I am at home. I guess I never even realized that you could actually program a keyless remote that was not originally paired with the vehicle. Sit tight, I am going to post a message in our "Moderator Forum" where Seth and all the other moderators can view this.....I am sure I will have you an answer very soon, several of the mods are Nissan & Infiniti techs, so sit tight!!!!

How is Beccah doing and feeling these days? Amy is so ready to get this baby out of her! LOL

Just saw a couple of things different when looking at the Murano Factory Service Manual from Nissan:

In step one, it doesn't say anything about locking the doors, so maybe try leaving them unlocked.

In step two, it stats to do this MORE than 6 times, so does that mean 7 times? I would suggest that as well. Try that, and sit tight, help is on its way!

Be sure to let us know at anytime if you can get past step 2.

I tried it again with the doors unlocked. Same story though, no hazards.

Jason,

Congrats on the new ride!I can't wait to see it.

Did the ebay auction specify whether you got a "remote keyless entry fob" or an "intelligent key system fob"?

I think they are two separate systems and are not interchangable.

The instructions you listed can be found in greater detail on page 86 of this link. http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/murano/2005/bl.pdf

Note that those instructions are found under the "remote keyless entry" section and not under the "intelligent key system" section.

From the reading I did... it looks like the only way to program the intelligent key system is to use the "Consult II" computer system that the dealers have.

Anyhow to cut to the chase.. You need to first figure out if what you bought on ebay is the simple remote keyless entry, or the complicated intelligent key. Then I would contact your local Nissan dealer and ask if they can program your key for you. Hopefully at a minimal charge!

Hi there,

If what you have looks similar to the picture below then for security reason there is no way to program it other than taking it too the dealer. Most dealers charge a minimum 1 hr to program however many keys you bring them. If you purchased this from a dealer they should cover getting you another key, depending on your deal terms.

Remember to bring all keys with you if they do require reprogramming.

Good Luck and congrats on the new ride.

Thanks for responding gentleman......Jason currently has one I-Key that came with his Murano, he needed another key fob and didn't feeling like spending the $$$ on another I-Key, so he purchased a regular key fob. I instructed him to check out pg. 86 of the FSM, and he has tried that many times. Is it possible that you can't use the I-Key and a regular key fob on the same vehicle?

If the vehicle came equipped with the I-key you can not pair a traditional non-i-key fob to the vehicle. I have had several customers try and the system will just not recognize the traditional fob.

As others have stated, if you want a spare, you will have to get a new Intelligent Key and have it programmed at your local Nissan dealership using Consult.

I bought two remotes from Ebay and the seller sent "programming info" with the remotes. Would not work. I read the instructions posted here and went to my care determined to make those darn things work!!! I tried inserting the key 6 times like the instructions said with no results, tried 7 times, same thing, 8 same thing, 9 same thing and finally when I tried inserting the key into the lock 10 times as quickly as I could it worked. When I got ready to program the next one I had to start completely from the beginning. I unlocked the doors with the drivers side button and opened the door and then closed it back. I locked the doors with the drivers side door lock button and then proceeded to insert the key in the inginition 10 times in rapid succession. On the 10th time I left the key in the ignition and turned it ti ACC and hit the lock button on the remote. My lights blinked and as the previous posts said don't hit the lock button but ONCE. It will mess up the process. I got both of my remotes programmed in about 5 minutes. I really hope this helps. Now I've got two keys I need to get cut and programmed. I was told by the dealer that they would have to program the keys. (They also told me they would have to program the remotes haha we know better don't we???) Thanks to all of you that posted your suggestions and I hope my little adventure helps someone else. Good luck. By the way mine is a 2006 model. I sure hope this helps someone.

I have been trying to program my valet key for ever.... Short long story.... my MO had a aftermarket remote starter installed that the dealer did not tell me about nor give me the remote for. Little did I know that the valet key was inside the dash and was never programed when they made me the extra key after i purchased it....

So I have been trying to avoid the $100 fee to get the reprogramed at the dealer.

Anyone have step by step instructions that I can re-program this valet key????

First off the more recent posts here are talking about different things.

Here are some pictures

This is an example of a keyless entry remote (programming instruction http://www.ehow.com/how_576752....html )

This is an Intelligent Key transponder

This a mechanical key

The remote is the only one that can be programmed in the driveway. For security reasons the mechanical and I-key cannot be programmed without a processed access code. If you try putting a non registered but cut key into your ignition and try to start the keyless remote programming procedure you may put your car into lockout mode.
