Programming Genie door opener

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

We recently came home with our new 2010 EX35 Journey. I tried programming the homelink controls to our Genie garage door openers the same way I did with our other vehicle but the opener does not seem to recognize the code signal. The opener is a 2007 model Genie screwdrive. Any suggestions?

I had to purchase a reciever that works with the openner. I purchased it from Homelink, I understand you can buy it at HomeDepot, Lowes Etc. It is a reciever and you connect it to your opener, the new reciever takes the signal from your car's Homelink sender and transfers the signal, opening your garage door. I called Homlink, their phone number is listed on there web site, I gave them the model opener I had, they informed me that I needed the "kit". The proplem so many gargage doors have is they have a code changing system, this does not work without the new reciever. Hope this helps.

A 2007 opener should have a rolling-code receiver.

My Craftsman has been installed since 2000 and works fine.

Did you follow the steps to program the remote for rolling codes? Usually that requires pressing a button on the opener itself to enable rolling learn mode. If you did do that, you probably just need to pick up the receiver scottt mentioned.

This is a common problem with the genie operators, I have one as well and had to to some research to get it to work.

1. Reprogram all the hand held remote Transmitters to use one of the smaller buttons on the transmitter, their are usually 3 on the newer remotes ( not the larger button which it is most likley programed to ).

2. Verify that the Hand held transmitters are programed correctly.

3. Program the Homelink in the vehicle following the rolling code directions.

Hope this solves your problem, worked for me

Our Genie has the rolling codes and I had no problem programming them to work with my GM truck. Just doesn't seem to work with the Infiniti. Thanks for the reply!
