Hello all, this is my first post here though I've found a lot of useful information previously.

I just bought a 2005 Q45 and have absolutely loved it thus-far. The only thing that doesn't work apparently is the programmable positioning for the driver's seat. When I push the buttons, nothing lights up and the seat doesn't change position. I assumed this was a fuse issue, but when I checked both the fuse box under the steering column and the one in the engine compartment, I wasn't able to locate a likely candidate for a new fuse. Maybe I just missed the acronym for the programmable seats.

Anyway, I'd like to avoid a trip to the dealer, so I'm tapping into the wealth of knowledge that is the Nico Forums! Hopefully one of you has had the same problem or knows where that elusive fuse is located. :bigthumb:

Go back to the owner's manual. There is a specific sequence to set a memory position. If you are following the instructions precisely and it still doesn't work, go to the settings menu and reset to factory defaults.

Well, I tried resetting the factory defaults and that hasn't worked. Like I said, when I try to program the seats, the indicator light doesn't light up, so that leads me to believe that the system isn't getting any power. Thing is, the power windows and locks work fine on the door, so I'm not sure what it could be.

OK, you dragged me out to the car to retreive the Owner's Manual. See page 3-20
0. (my step) with the key in the ignition set to LOCK open and close the driver's door at least twice.
1. Check the transmission is set to PARK.
2. Turn the ignition to ON (engine not started).
3. Adjust the seat, rear view mirrors, and steering column.
4. PUSH the SET switch ( I believe both lights for 1 and 2 will come on and then go out).
5. Within 5 seconds of pressing SET, press 1 or 2 for at least one second. The selected memory position light will come on for 5 seconds and then go out. After the light goes out, the memory is stored.

When you turn the key to off and remove it, the wheel should move up and the seat should pull back.

To change from pre-set position 1 to 2 or 2 to :
1. Check the transmission is set to PARK and the ignition is off.
2. Turn the ignition to ON (do not start the engine).
3. Push the desired pre-set position 1 or 2 for at least one second.

The automatic drive positioning will not work under the conditions outlined on page 3-22.

If all else fails, go to page 4-7, de-select the lift steering wheel and adjust driver seat options. Then reselect them and try to set the memory again. If it still fails, reset to factory defaults again.

To confirm a memory is stored, turn the ignition to on and press the SET switch. It there is no memory stored, the indicator lamps will come on for a 1/2 second. If a memory HAS been stored, the lamps will stay on for about 5 seconds.

Thanks for the detailed instructions. Unfortunately, the indicator lights don't light up at all regardless of what I do. Is there any reason that they would lose power?

Here's the link to your factory service manual (FSM). The SE section is all about the front seats and there's a few pages of self-diagnosis. I scanned it quickly and it looks like you may be in a fail safe mode for some reason but read through the section and do the self-diagnosis to be sure. Good luck.

I read the area concerning the programmable seats and did some troubleshooting. It doesn't appear to be anything that's indicated in the manual. The automated seat setting (where it pulls back the seat and steering wheel) function properly, but the programmable seat buttons just aren't getting any power. Guess I'll have to bite the bullet and take it in.
