The production number is usually the last 8 numbers or so (not sure) in the VIN.

That is a good question tho, if anyone does know where or how to decode the VIN?

The vin gives all types of info put not the total number produced. The first 3 JN1= japan car ,1N4= us car etc. 4th letter is eng. size, f=ka24e, m=ka24de. Next letter+ number is model,s3=s13.s4 = s14 , d21= truck. And it goes on. I heard that they dropped the 240 because the last year sales was around 10,000 nation wide.

I didnt say the last numbers of the vin were the exact production totals for that year, they just tell what number that specific car was manufactured out of the total production. like for example my old rx7 last 6 vin numbers were 008882 which meant it was the 8,882 rx7 to come off the assembly line for that model year.
