I haven't posted on Nico in forever but I had to share my most recent automotive endeavor in the form of a product review.

I recently got my hands on a 2008 Xterra. While the vehicle itself is phenomenal, the plastic bumpers weren't and had seen better days. I tossed around many many ideas from plastidipping everything to regular paint. I was concerned with plastidip's longevity mainly on the front bumper. While I know paint would work, I didn't want to deal with the whole production of prepping and cure time before handling and such. Plus there's a ton of real estate to cover here.

A google search lead me to these 2 products:

http://store.detailking.com/REVIVAL-Bum ... _2683.html

The information I found online was positive enough to drop $60 and give it a shot. The rear center bumper is metal so I went with plasti dip for the simple fact that it didn't have to be removed, no prep sanding, and I was doing my badges anyway.

I followed the instructions as per the label and got to work. Anything easily removed such as mud flaps and running board steps were taken off to be dyed with trim kote. Make sure what is left on the vehicle is taped off to avoid getting the trim kote on paint or other surfaces. I found that keeping the wax pad and rag soaked in trim kote was the way to go to avoid the pad dragging and smearing. I went with 2-3 coats on each panel.

Once I was satisfied with this step I let the product dry for 30 mins to an hour. Next I applied the Revival dressing to the coated pieces as well as the plastic on the vehicle that wasn't faded out.

All I can say is wow! I have never in my life seen any product take white, grungy plastic and make it black again. Good as new black that is. I've used many restoration products over the years and nothing has provided such great seemingly permanent results.

The revival dressing is quite user friendly. Goes on super easy and wipes right off paint with minimal effort. Leaves an amazing natural shine and isn't greasy or slippery in the least.

Now the question of the day is longevity. I cannot answer that at this time. However, I strongly feel it will last the 1 year detail king claims. Trim kote soaks into and becomes part of the plastic. Once dry you can't even feel it on there. I will keep applying the revival dressing once per month or so and keep this thread updated as time goes on.

Everything mentioned took 8 hours start to finish, including cleaning up my garage.

Two thumbs up to detail king! Here are some pics:

1 Month later still looking great! Been exposed to sun, dirt, salt air, bugs, e.t.c. I find that once it rains the dressing tends to streak a bit. Even then it isn't terribly noticeable at all unless you get really close. A couple small places have chipped off but the dressing really hides it. Because of this i've been re-applying the dressing every time I wash it just because it takes 10 extra minutes and makes it look 100% again. Very pleased so far!
