I was goofing around with the parts I have for my sr and decided to test fit the toda racing flywheel and spec clutch I had. Well surprisingly the pressure plate won't fit.

I thought to myself maybe I got the wrong PP, but I double check the order and it was in fact the right kit from spec. I was thinking damn there was no way the flywheel could be screwed. Just to be sure, I tried the stock PP anyway. It doesn't work either.

Low and behold 2 of the dowel pins are off. By overlapping the stock flywheel and the toda unit, I noticed that the dowel pins are off by an 1/8" or so. It is in fact a SR flywheel, the bolt holes match, diameter, ect just the dowel pins are machined in wrong.

Anyone else have had this problem? what did you do?

Do you have the chromoly steel version ? Interesting enough, I came across this billet steel piece on ebay ....it doesnt even have any dowel pins!!

As for your situation, I'm not really sure...could you grind away those pins? Arent they just used for alignement of the pressure plate?

I had fitment issues with my Jun flywheel +spec clutch... or thought i did...

First The pins aren't aranged symetrically around the wheel so be sure to put the pressure plate in a position where you get the "closest alignment"

Second Even once the pins are mostly lined up they still won't slip on. I had to actuially use the PP bolts to pull the pressureplate onto the flywheel.

I was afraid when i first checked it out to but i called Enjuku and they said it was normal and that it would go right on once i actuially put the bolts in there.

They didn't lie... it worked fine but was still a PITA.I'de give it 2 of 5 on the anoyance (make me want to hit my windshield with a hammer) meter.

Also on that flywheel pictured you can see where the pins from your stock flywheel are suposed to be pressed in.

the reason the dowel pins are missing on the ebay piece is because it was turned/resurfaced and they didn't press the pins back in. I could have the pins pressed out but I'm worried that the PP might get off centered (either when bolting or by rotational inertia) and then cause the assembly to be unbalanced = bad. Spec's PP doesn't have a close enough tolerance on the holes to solely use them to center the clutch, either.

robdet-- mine are way more off then that. I've tried every position on the PP and only one way lines up the flywheel bolt holes to the PP bolt holes. But when you have that position the pins are so far off that you can't bolt down the PP, it'll just bend. When I installed my fidanza flywheel on my G20 I had a similar problem to you, the PP wouldn't slide on, it needed help.

anyway when I tried, it was late a night so I'll give it a try again.

thanks for the replies. :)

I have a TODA with Spec Stage 2. It all fits (haven't test fitted onto the motor yet), but I have put the pressure plate on the flywheel, and it fits perfectly. You just have to make sure you put the pressure plate in the correct position. The pins on the flywheel are each offset, one is closer, next is a lil bit more, and the third is the furthest.
