Hello, Im new here 31 years young. After selling my 91 se coupe 4 years ago due to kids. Its time to get back in to the 240sx. I recently bought a very solid rust free 89 coupe all power no sunroof auto which I allready converted to 5 speed setup. $480. for car with bad transmission. engine is already out and Im painting whole car including engine bay and door jams graphite grey pearl. My ? is I want to install the rb25det. but have recently read that there is a oil presure problem with this engine. Anyone have this problem. Im not looking to for 400hp probly 30hp over stock.if that helps. How reliable are these motrs. and what seiries rb25det do u sugest. Thanks.

woha lets clear a few things up

400hp is nowhere near 30hp over stock. they make around 250bhp stock, 230ish at the wheels. 400hp is gonna take a significant turbo and fuel upgrades.

there is no oil pressure problem that im aware of, the motors are very reliable and stout. there can be oiling issues with the rear cylinder but thats a standard problem on all inline 6's. thats a LONG way to move oil from the pump to the back. the RB26 seems to have more of a problem with that than the RB25. dosent mean it is exempt tho.

several people here have built 500+whp rb25's without many issues so i wouldnt worry about reliability if you are going for 400 PROVIDED YOUR TUNING IS GOOD. its all in the tune.

good luck with your new project

hahaha wow

thats what i get for reading a thread right after i first wake up sorry lol

all the rb25 covers are silver or this odd bronze color. most people paint them before the engine goes in. i did mine a texture black/graphite color. looks good (no pictures of it tho)

As far as the oil issue goes, you may be thinking of the R32 rb20 and rb26 issue with the crank/oil pump. RB25's don't have that problem as far as i know.
