Hi everyone!

I've bought a Versa couple of months ago and I already have a problem. Last weekend I couldn't start my car. When I turned the ignition on all the lamps came on as usual, but when I tried to start the car the starter didn't make any sound. The battery seemed to be fully charged, all the electrics seemed to be working OK. I checked the fuses and they seemed OK also. I was with my friends, so we push started the car (nice to have a stick shift) and it worked OK. When I was getting home from my friends' the same thing occurred, so we push started the car again and I drove home. The next day I tried to start the car and it started flawlessly! It's been two days since then and it starts and drives just fine. Can anyone tell what was it?

No idea what it could possibly be, but seeing how it is starting fine now nothing should be wrong, anyways stop by your nissan dealership and get it looked over and tell them exactly what happend. Coud be your altinator?

Well, the alternator just recharges the battery, and from how the electrics worked I'm sure that the battery was charged. If the charge is enough for the starter to work, then the alternator is not even needed to start the car. Since the starter didn't make any noise at all, it seems that the current just didn't reach the starter. The question is why.

Well, I have contacted the dealer, but you know the people that answer the phone calls at the service dept. don't know a **** about cars, and the guys who know something are always busy. I'm a little busy now, don't have time to go to the dealership. I just thought that somebody on this forum might have similar problem.

Not with the V specifically... but that sounds like a starter or starter solenoid problem.

Stupid question: Since you mentioned you have a stick, did you pressed the clutch pedal when you had the problem with the engine not starting?

That's not a stupid question and a good point. It's like when you're on your bike and can't figure out why the bike stalls when you put it into gear. After all those minutes of tinkering, you finally figure out the kickstand isn't up all the way

Yes I did. I know it won't start if the clutch pedal is not pressed.

Wow. I honor you for your honesty. I would not admit that if it happened to me.
