Hey I have a 93 Nissan 240 SX.I'm having a problem. The car runs fine but as soon as I drive it for a while and shut it off it won't start again until it cools down I'm thinking either the coil or the pick up module while the car is running there are no problems no lack of power but if I shut it down thats it nothing I was wondering is this a common problem any idea's would be appericated thanks for your time. When it wont start are the plugs covered w/ gas?It might be mixture... Mine did that after I replaced the fuel filter..the plugs were covered w/ gas. A simple mix adjust..works fine now.

Well start from the top. First, check to see if you have spark. Pull a plug, connect the wire back onto it, hold it onto the valve cover with something that won't conduct electricity and have someone crank it a couple of times. If you've got spark then it's a fuel problem. If you don't have spark, then check your electrical system. Try that and let us know what happens. I personally think it's a fuel problem, electrical problems aren't ususally heat dependant like that.

Well theres tones of spark and I tested the distributer it's fine to at first I was thinking pickup module but I can drive all day with no problem it's only when I turn the car off that there's a problem but then today it's running fine went for a half hour drive turned it off and it fired right up.Now I'm thinking it could be a senser burning out what do you think and is there a way to test them? Thanks for your time crazycat:ylsuper

If a sensor is going bad, the computer should pick it up. You can have a bad sensor and still not have the check engine light come on, so you'll have to get the codes from the computer. If you go to the 240sx.org site, and go to the FAQ link. Scroll down to "ECM, reading trouble code DOHC". If you can, print all of that off and then just follow the steps. It can be kind of confusing, but read through it a few times and you'll get the hang of it. If you don't get any codes out of the computer, you're looking at some sort of mechanical problem. Make sure you've got good gad. Run some fuel sysytem cleaner through it. Change the fuel filter. Try that and let us know how it goes.
