Ive got a '92 240sx hatch and just got a VIS carbon fiber hatch for cheap but I'm weary about putting on. I've heard that it takes off to much weight in the rear and throws off the weight ratio. Got any advise?

That's like saying taking the spare tire out of the back throws off the weight ratio. Or someone sitting in the back seat.

Everything will affect your weight ratio. If you're really worried about it, relocate the battery to the trunk.

Did you for real get a carbon fiber hatch and you're worried about taking off weight?.......

Did you really say a stock HATCH weighs 5 pounds.. And did you really say a carbon fiber hood weighs 3.5lbs!? Dude what the f***?

A seibon carbon fiber hood is around 27lbs. Why not search just a tad before spouting?

I see nothing about a carbon fiber hood.

touche.

To reconstruct my rant, hatches do not weigh anywhere near 5lbs. A carbon fiber hatch weighs 25lbs approximately.

Thanks for the correction AZ.But I was thinking he was talking about hoods seeing as the thread was about carbon fiber hoods.

Ok, I think I should have been a little more clear about what I meant. The only reason I brought up the subject is because I read in an article that even though reducing weight is a good thing, taking too much weight off the rear of a rear wheel drive car makes the car harder to control and often loses traction in times when its not supposed to. And yes I know my spelling and grammer is horrible.

Don't worry about it. If you are that worried or if you think it affects your driving that much, toss a rim and tire in the back or a sandbag. But you should really only feel some difference when you get into 80-100lb range on one section of the car. Let us know if that helps.
