Well I went and bought a 1994 q45. On the test drive it seemed fine but on the way home with it it showed some serious problems.

The engine wont rev past 3K and it struggles to get there. It also seems limited to 45mph.

A few times while accelerating the car seemed to buck a little and the slip light on the dash board came on. When that happened it would seem the TCS tried to right what it thought was a slide and started grabbing at the brakes.

I know this is the VH/VK board and not the Q45 board but it seems like a better place to get help with a diagnosis.

Thanks for any help you guys can give.

Check the Fuel Pump (FP), Fuel pump Control Unit (FPCU), replace the fuel filter with a new OEM unit and check the Camshaft Position Sensor.

Thanks for the reply.

I'll check those in the morning. I hope it's the filter.

A bad MAFS could cause those problems also. Puts the ECU in limp mode.

Good luck

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I can't say that enough.

The problem was the fuel filter. It smelled like sulfur when I took it off. It still seems a little down on power but I was able to drive freeway speeds(85mph) now which is a hell of a lot better than it was.

If you guys don't mind answering one more question while I have your attention. . . How do you get the ECU out to be able to check the codes? I was expecting it to be the same as my S13 but it is a little different. I got the kick panel off but I don't see how to turn the ECU around to get at the mode select screw.

Thanks again.

You have to find and remove all three screws that hold it in place then pull back (towards you) because its held in by metal tabs.
