Problems with my maximas plenum gasket

my 1998 maxima has been cranking funny. It turns over A LOT before it actually starts, but once it starts it runs fine. I took it to several local mechanics and none could fix it, so I took to the mechanics at a Nissan dealership. They said my plenum gasket was leaking and there was a lot of gunky buildup. They replaced the plenum gasket, but thats been 3 months ago and my car still makes the same noise. Has anyone else had a similar problem with their maxima and if so what did you do?????
