Recently I've been noticing a hissing sound out of my right rear AGX strut. It happens on the rebound alot, like if you squish it down it'll be quiet, but when you let it back up, you can hear this hiss sound, like air is escaping. It's not excessivly loud, but it was enough for me to notice while driving the car with the windows down...

Anyone have any ideas what this could be? Is it something that can be repaired, or is it something that will require me to replace the whole strut? I just spent a couple weeks in Boston picking up my stuff, and the roads are so bad up there I wouldnt be surpised if one of those 5 foot deep potholes damaged my poor lil AGX.

Anyone recgonize this problem?

You're car looks too low for AGX's...that's probably what damaged them.

If you see any fluid leaking from the strut, it's blown. You cannot have AGX's repaired/rebuilt, so you'll have to purchase a new one (or consider another set of struts) if it's blown.

Good luck.

That's odd...I read your Car Domain thing and it says you were running Eibach Pro Kit springs with your AGX's. That certainly shouldn't be too low, but in the pictures it really does look low.

How old are your AGX's? If they are leaking, they might still fall under the warranty, since I believe the Pro-Kit springs aren't low enough to void it.

I guess it's just my imagination, but the front looks lower than other photos I've seen of the Pro-Kit springs on a car.

Anyway, what's the status of that AGX? Did you get the wheel off to get a good look at it? Anything leaking?

Is the warranty thing a possibility? The AGX warranty, as far as I know, will not be voided by a spring like the Pro-Kits.

How long do the AGXs last and long is the warranty good for?

fiznat, i've got the same setup as you. It's just what the AGX's (and some other shocks do), Mine have done it since day one. They're not blown either (haha not even close!). When I'm going over a slow bump, especially with the windows down i hear it. Mostly from the rears.

i hear the same sound with mine when going over speed bumps and low speed bumps (with windows down) but i think i hear them both front and rear. i also hear the same thing when driving my moms windstar. its just the gas moving through the valves.

hm good to hear guys, thanks. It's weird cause I only hear it out of that one strut, and I had never heard that sound before. Oh well- glad I dont have to spend my turbo money on replacement shocks-- thanks again!

There are 'normal sounds' that aftermarket struts make, but being that only one of your struts is making it, I'd still inspect it.

Your car looks lower than it is in that first pic...I guess it's the angl. Sorry.
