Here's the list from old problem to recent ones: 1. Turn signal doesnt work: First, its not the bulb cos i changed it. Its been since September. It worked for a month then stopped working. Started working again and now it totally stopped working. When i move the switch up or down, the bulb lights up. It just doesnt blink on its own so i have to move it up and down. Some guy said its the switch and to get one from a junkyard but he wanted 150 for it! 2. The check engine light has been on since thanksgiving. I took it to advanced auto and they said its the catalytic(sp?) converter? They said it wont pass emissions. 3. Engine coolant liquid is leaking. Its not a whole lot. The car has to be parked for like an hour or more before its obvious. 4. When im at a stop light or just when i have my foot on the brake for like 2 minutes, the car starts shaking! Stops, then starts, stops then starts. The shaking is really strong. I was thinking of midas? Can any Atlanta peeps help me?

I'll throw out some suggestions on what to check in the order you mentioned the problems....

1) sounds like a bad relay...

2) it's possible, how many miles are on your car? when was the last time you has it changed? it just might be time to have it replaced...

3) check your hoses, make sure they are sitting flush on both ends of the connections, and make sure your clamps are still good/tight....

4) not sure what you mean by shaking, starts, and stops, and starts again... again I ask how many miles are on your car? when was your last tune up? when did you last have your FI's cleaned? when at idle, does the needle jump at the same time you get this errattic shaking??? - it's possible there's a valve leak...

2) it's possible, how many miles are on your car? when was the last time you has it changed? it just might be time to have it replaced...It has like 83k miles on it. Had the catalytic thingy changed? ive never changed it. Ive only had the car for 9 months

3) check your hoses, make sure they are sitting flush on both ends of the connections, and make sure your clamps are still good/tight....Someone showed me a part where it might be the hose. ill check it again

4) not sure what you mean by shaking, starts, and stops, and starts again... again I ask how many miles are on your car? when was your last tune up? when did you last have your FI's cleaned? when at idle, does the needle jump at the same time you get this errattic shaking??? - it's possible there's a valve leak...What is a tune up? Is that like an oil change? I get the oil changed regularly. And what is a FI?!! No, the needle doesnt jump

Thanks a lot for your reply [/QUOTE]

1. Defiantly a relay.

2. Catalytic Converters don't really have a life expectancy. They're life depends on you cars ability to control its air/fuel ratio correctly so that the fuel burns cleanly and cat doesn't need to stop extra carbon. A good rule of thumb is if you hit the catalytic converter with a blunt object, does it sound like rocks rattling around inside? If so it needs replacing.

3. Yea, most water leaks come from busted hoses. However your radiator could have the leak.

4. Tune ups tend to include most of the following:

* Replacing the air filter. * Replacing the fuel filter(s). * Installing new spark plugs and replacing any worn spark plug wires. * Inspecting and installing a new distributor cap if one is needed. * Inspecting and installing a new rotor if the old one has cracks, burning and carbon. * Inspecting the valve-cover gasket and adjusting the valves (if your car has adjustable valves). * All fluids checked and topped off. * A battery check and terminal cleaning, if necessary. * A positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve replaced, if clogged.

FI= Fuel injectors

One of the items that can cause your car to idle erratically. A tune up should take care of the idling problem.

Does the shaking come and go in a pattern? say 5 sec's on, 5 sec's off?

Does it do it with the A/C-defroster on/off? Sounds like it might be the A/C clutch locking and unlocking. As already mentioned, if the vehicle needs a tune up, it might be sensative to the extra load of the A/C pump being turned on

Ok, you guys where right. It was the relay switch and it cost me 225 to replace it. When they opened the engine, oil was leaking from some plugs that were inside some metal thingy (my receipt is in my car so i dont know exactly what it was). They advised me to fix that problem 1st.

The check engine light is still on and car is still idling and the guy said there is leaking valve and they would need the car for a day or 2 to find out what exactly is leaking so i will do that next week.

The radiator fluid leak was just from a hose that was lose so they tightened it.

I also did a tune up

ETA: the guy sprayed vacuum or air or sth into an area in the engine and the idling stopped. he explained that something was leaking and the thing sucked in the air so thats why they need to take that thing apart.
