I have a 1985 300ZX Turbo that I plan on restoring the next few years. Here are some problems I'd like to fix now though:

1) Intermittant heat coming from the vents via tha climate control. I have digital dash. Air comes out and the A/C works fine, but when I want heat, it rarely works.

2) My boost gauge and compass are spazzing out when I first start the car. It just shows all the arrows lit up for a while, and eventually, they straightens out and work fine.

3) My radio works sometimes. It worked fine and then one day, I turned it off and it wouldn't come back on. then one day it decided to work again, but when I shut it off, it wouldn't come back on again. this has happened a couple of times.

I'd appreciate any help if anyone knows what could be the cause of these prooblems.

Thanks a lot!

1)check for a vac leak at the heater watercock. its by the firewall and the intake plenum on the pass side. the vac hose on that thing loves to rot. also check for vac leaks at the evap case. its a pain in the bum and is 90% of the auto air malfunctions i see on those cars.

2)all i can think of is insufficient voltage around the startup period.

3)your radio is going bro. it aint cheap either. check junkyards or maybe go to an electronics repair place.

Regarding #1, if I sent you a picture of my engine, could you outline the parts you're referring to? I won't know where they are located otherwise...

on the heater hoses going into the fire wall there is a small canister with a lever on it. There is a tiny vaccum line attached to it. That is the vaccum line. It is located on the passenger side of the engine near the fire wall.
