I have recently become the owner of a 1991 Nissan 300zx non-turbo and I'm discovering problems. When I take off and really get on it, there is a 'thumping' sound from the bottom side of the car. It feels like the driveshaft is hitting right under the armrest behind the shifter. It is a five speed transmission and I don't know that much about the history of the car. This only happens when I really get into the throttle in first and second gear. It may happen in other gears, but I'm not trying to damage anything. Please help, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm really liking the car and I would like to keep it as long as I don't have to sink a lot of money into it.
