I am trying to replace my MAF connector, this has been going on for a couple of weeks, waiting for parts etc. The old one has a spring loaded piece that wraps around the bottom, up the sides and stops about an eighth of an inch around the top corners, the new one ends at the left side and right side near the top, doesn't wrap around, I can't get the new spring loaded metal piece to fit in, it goes to the inside on both sides, I thought maybe thats the way it was suppose to but when I attempt to put the connector onto the MAF, it won't slide on, also the 3 wire connectors that slide into the MAF connector, I thought they should just slide in but they slide in but won't lock, also the new connector has brown/red sleave, or maybe you would call it a collar that the old one doesn't have and I am confused if that should be pushed in or left out?? Any help will be appreciated, Iam 400 miles from the nearest dealer and in deep ----, well lets just say HELP!! Thanks Wayne

Sounds like you have a plug that is not the right one. Do you have any photo's you can put up. I replaced mine with relative ease a year ago. Have you thought about just pulling out the pins from the old connector, (pull them out from the rear), and using your old plug?? The new pins crimp and then are re-inserted on the plug. Thats what the dealer techs do here in So. Cal. The new pins are very easy to get.

NICO allows low-qual 300x300 pixel images to be uploaded. Once you have the image sized correctly and saved on your hard drive, click on the "new reply" button, below right. That'll take you to a reply page that gives you the option of uploading an image, where it says "Attach file:". Click on "Browse", and find the image on your computer. Click "Open" and it'll upload when you submit the reply if there aren't any problems.

Try removing the metal clip, slide the plastic connector on and then install the metal clip.

Problem solved, Iam up and running. I restarted from scratch. I learned from all the mistakes I made the first go around. The new plug turned out to be right. The reason it looked wrong is it is an improved design. thanks for c omments and help!! I guess if you don't suceed the first time try, try again. Wayne
