So I had a HUD cluster in my S13 hatch (w/ SR20DET) and it worked for a good while until the speedo would start to flicker off and on sometimes til one day it completely stopped working. I also noticed that the cluster lights seemed kinda drained.

After a couple of months, I finally put in another HUD cluster that had a fresh capaciator installed and worked perfectly on the car it was in previously. I go to install it and when I start the car, the cluster lights light up fine and the digital speedo lights up for about 2 seconds and then shuts off. I turn off the car and turn it back on and the digi speedo doesn't turn on at all, and I see a sort of low white / light red glow from the cluster lights as though it's getting drained by something again.

I also noticed that when I turn the headlights on, the clock turns very dim, and when I turn off the lights the clock gets really bright like if there's no problems (I'm not sure if this is normal or what, so please correct me on that)

And that's basically it. I was thinking about getting another subharness and trying it out, but idk!! what do you guys think??? anyone else have this problem after a fresh cap install or something?? I need helps!

Thanks

It may be your battery terminals. See if you have a tight connection. If they look shot, replace them.

If the battery terminals are tight, check for loose grounds.

Try analog cluster and see how it behaves.

new sub harness won't really help, and I've tried another cluster. Broken as well, no proof it worked. I would like to buy that digital piece in the cluster itself, can be found on the coutesy parts site. BUT it way too effin expensive for now. I swapped to analog and you'll need the analog sub harness. my speedo on that flickers every once in a while, but I doubt that would cause total digital speedo failure.
