i just bought an 09 G37x sedan and the OE ties are the Goodyears.

I've been reading some reviews at tirerack.com and other places that go so far as to say DO NOT USE THESE TIRES.

i'm concerned about this of course.

I've been reading about the Michelin Primacy MXV 4 tires. a bit pricey but supposedly outstanding tire.

any recommendations?

thanks!

Wait until you need new tires. Yes, the OEM Goodyear Eagles suck, but they aren't so bad that you should run out and replace them. I bought Yokohama Advan S.4 tires when my OEM's were worn out and I've been very happy with them.

Unless you personally find the Goodyears to be unacceptable, you might as well wear them out. Then, get something better.

TireRack's web site is a good place to do research. Look at their test results and read user comments. Their Tire Decision Guide can cut down the number of tires to review.

At least you have some alternatives. Infiniti chose a weird combination of sizes for the G37S. There are several choices for the fronts and several choices for the rears. However, only Bridgestone makes the same models in both sizes. There are two summer models and one for winter.

thanks folks. yeah i've been reading stuff on tirerack.

i called my dealer, my car only has 850 miles on it, so i asked my salesman if they would replace the Goodyears for Michelins. we'll see what they say, although i pretty much know what they'll say..."yeah sure and for only $1,000!!"

Honestly, the RS-A's on my wife's 05 Sedan were OK. Not bad at all !!Good in wet/dry conditions. No noise. Tracked straight. However, they wore out in 20K miles.

Replaced them with Yokohama Avids. Have been pleased so far.

They are ok but no thread life. Just use them till they wore out and get a new set something better.

My husband is a service manager for Goodyear and says that the Goodyear RSA's are a performance tire made for handling and they are not a high mileage tire. They are a very good all around tire. The Connecticut State Police and local police use them on their cruisers and if they were not a good tire, they wouldn't use them due to liability conditions. If you want a mileage tire, you will lose on handling. If you drive them hard, they will have accelerated wear. He has seen them go for 20,000 miles and also 50,000 miles.

These were on my wife's G sedan and she does not drive it hard.I do replace tires well before the wear bar....usually at 4/32nds.I never have anything less than 4/32nds on my fronts. They did perform fine. I should have pushed them to the limits to see how they really handled, but didn't. I think for that kind of $$$ you can get a much better tire.

No offense, but I trust my personal experience and the thousands of reviews on Tirerack.com over an employee of Goodyear. My OEM Eagle RS-A tires not only wore out quickly, but they didn't handle as well as my Yokohomas do now. The same thing happened with my old Neon. The OEM Eagles were crap compared to the Avid TRZ tires I replaced them with.

He was just passing on some of his personal experience with those particular tires. He's been with them for 28 years and is ready to retire. They really treat their employees like garbage these days. He can't wait to retire ASAP! He definitely is not partial to Goodyear tires only. - just purchased some Firestones for our son! lol

Please oh please... Don't you G guys turn into M guys with the RS-A bashing... I will admit they aren't the greatest tires, but They work fine on the Gs... I've had them on my car for 16,000 miles and they still have 8 left on them. The way I drive, thats miraculous. They aren't the best in wet conditions, but the AWD helps that. They are quiet and track well though, and dry traction is good. Most Yokos are good and Michelins make many people happy, but if you like taking corners quickly, be warned that the Michelins have a slow turn-in response, which could scare you with the G's oversteer tendencies. but then again, some people are thinking drift FTW.
