Problems with filling the tank of 06 Z
Sometimes when I fill my new Z with gas it shuts off the gas tank handle and won't let me fill it. My Daugther works for Nissan and she said I should waite 30 seconds and try to fill by hand with the handle but it still shuts off like the tank is full and will only fill about 10 gallons. This is not all the time just sporatic. Anyone else having this problem?

are you completely out of gas when it shuts off at 10 gallons? I'm kinda wierd, I reset my trip counter when I fill up, and drive till the low fuel light comes on (does the 350Z have a low fuel light?) then I fill up, I can devide the number of miles driven by the number of gallns I put in at the next fill up to calculate my avg mpg, and I know that a 350z has a 20 gallon gas tank so even if the gas gauge stops working and I know I average 15 mpg I can get 300 miles on a tank of gas (these numbers purely hypothetical I don't own a 350z but close enough to get the point across) but you know abotu how much gas you're gonna put in by the number of miles you've driven since your last fill up
also some cars the filler neck is positioned at a wierd agle which causes a bit of back pressure when pumping with some pumps, could it be a simple case of pressure shutoff at the pump? can you hold the filler nozel out or twisted a bit to align the nozel better with the direction of the filler neck? and does this help?

my 2004 started doing the same thing after the dealed changed the vent hose for the gas tank. It does not do it all the time, but when it will only let me put about a half a tank of gas in the car it then smells like gas inside of the car as well.
