My daughter has a 2005 G35 coup with 88k miles on it. In July we had to replace 2 coils and all six spark plugs. Shortly after that, the car simply would not start. It was towed to the dealer in Wilmington, NC and initially diagnosed as needing a new IPDM part (part of the car's computer control system). After replacing this part, there was still no current and we were then told we needed a new ECM. The part was on backorder so we found a site, http://www.slidegood.com, where we purchased a used one. This was subsequently put in by the dealer but the car is still not operational. There is current going now but something is still not reading. The service manager and technician seem to be stumped. Does anyone have any input on this problem? We've been without this car for 1 month now!!!

Welcome to NICO!

Can you provide more details on the trouble? For instance, when you say the car wont start, what does it do exactly? Does it turn over, or just crank over? Why were the plugs replaced? Who did the work?

Thanks for your interest! The car would turn over just wouldn't catch. The first time it was worked on was by a local small-time mechanic in Wilmington, NC. At that time the presenting problem was a sudden violent shaking of the car when my daughter was driving it. One coil and one plug was replaced then. However, one week later, the car's radio first went dead and then suddenly began shaking again while my daughter was driving it to work. She took car then to AAA Car Care Center there where they replaced another coil and all remaining plugs. They said replacing the coil and all plugs should prevent any further problems. However, one week later the car is shaking again and this time, after parking the car at her work, my daughter was not able to get it to start, would turn over but not catch. It was towed back to AAA but this time they were unable to get any diagnostic readout and so we had it towed to the Capital Nissan in Wilmington,NC where they then told us it was the IPDM. When that part didn't work, we were told that whoever worked on the car before "fried" the ECM. So we got that part and now we still don't have an answer. Help!!

It could be the computer, it might not. Without codes nor anything else it's a crap shoot. Unfortunately you seem to be dealing with Nissan playing "name that part" and randomly replacing things without diagnosing that the part is bad. To me that's a sign of a bad service center. If you have a Infiniti service center nearby I would take the car there as the Nissan guys seem to have no clue.
