problems with a silicon hose

Having a hard time getting a silicone hose on the passenger side intake of my HR. For some reason the part that the hose attaches to seems to be really difficult to get on any suggestions? I was thinking that maybe putting some heat into the hose would make it a little bit more pliable and that much easier to accept the expansion to go over the part but at the same time I dont want to melt anything.
