we just got my ca hooked up in the new car, and it is acting stupid. it turns over but wont crank, and when it cranks for a second it just spits chokes and dies. so its not even idling. the plugs are new, its getting air, and everythings working like it should. we got good compression also. so, we cant figure it out. we checked the wiring, and we donno if its correct. its confusing.

check the codes, sounds suspiciously like a maf problem, I believe 12 is the maf code

the code was 55. so i guess the wiring is correct. im using a sohc maf. we unplugged it to see if that was the problem, and it should crank without the maf plugged just not rev over 3 grand.. and it did the same thing. im starting to think either all my grounds arent hooked up because my spark was reallllllllll weak or i have shot coilpacks.

go to auto zone and buy some of those 18in 12 gauge battery cables (youll see the ones i mean). run one from the body to the block and one from the body to the head at least. ive got 4 total, one is attached to the intake manifold on the side where there is a convenient bolt located. another runs from a hole in the fender which i took down to the metal so the strap would make a good contact, to that stock hot pipe bracket at the front of the engine above the exhaust manifold. then ive got one going from the battery tray to the block and one from the battery tray to the same bolt on the intake manifold as the first strap.

sure you may think thats a little much but when i put them on it made the difference between my car not firing and my car starting instantly. for the 8 bucks itll cost you, i think its well worth a shot.

make sure the engine temp sensor isnt shot, and that the fuel injectors arent just staying open. sounds like an overfuelling problem. we had the same thing happen with my car and eventually it just sort of figured itself out. wish i could tell you we did something but in all honesty it just decided to work one day. oh and if you have a safc, make sure its set to 4 cylinders haha.

lol ill try that, thanks tim. you need to come down to the gump one day so we can meet up. theres a bunch of turbo 240's here.. all motors.. its good stuff. but thanks for the tip and ill try it. but its funny because when the motor was in my coupe, it ran fine.. then one day last week it started skipping fire.. and so that makes me unsure about the grounds. my coilpacks might be shot. but ill try the ground thing before i go out trying to find some coilpacks.. thanks!

mine did that and we just wired another battery in, put new plugs in, and kept cranking it till it turned over... all my engine swaps have been reluctant to turn at first.

itll be about 2 hours before we can do this. ill let you guys know what happens. i know im gettin fuel and stuff because when we gave it a compression test fuel was smacking us in the face. it HAS to be because of the weak fire because when we pulled the plugs out they were doused in fuel. i dont think my injectors are stuck open tho... just not enough spark. if we cant figure the problem out before friday, im gettin an rb. enough said

but you already have 2/3 of one!

dont give up so soon! my car was out of action for 10 freaking months and it still isnt running as well as it should be. if you do go with an RB though, go all the way. none of this sissy rb20 or 25 crap. single turbo rb26 all the way. you can find the custom motor mounts on ebay from mckinney motorsports or something.

haha rb26, i wish.. my pockets not that big i was more thinking rb25.. theres only one rb25 around here, and about 5 rb20's. about 5 sr20's, and 2 ca's. and countless ka-t's. But rb25det is my choice. in time, rb26 will be under my hood but thats about 7 years from now... haha.. 2/3 of one.. i know this thats why i want the whole thing! i dont want to abandon my ca homies so i wanted to go for the ca's big brother. sr's are too popular around here. my cousin has one in his s13, and me and him are always at competition. i figure, rb25.. id walk all over him stock to his few mods. hehehehehhee

ok well do that, and touge i dont think the ecu would know if the packs were bad, when i first got my motor back in january one of my packs were cracked, and it ran like crap. the ecu flashed 55. i replaced the coilpack, and it ran like a dream. i honestly remember just hooking up one ground after we put the motor in the new car.. hehe ill check this and let you guys know if im stupid or not.
