ever since i got my motor swap in, my engine has problems starting.. the first time i try to start the motor it takes about 8 seconds for it to start up.. then if i try starting it again within the next 5 or 6 hours or so.. it starts up immidiately.. the way it should. i know that my motor runs a little rich and my spark plugs come out black each time. could this affect the starting of the motor at all? also.. when i first got motor swapped it pulled extremely hard for the first 3 days. on the 3rd day it felt like a hose popped off or something and that the motor isnt boosting. the blow off valve is half as loud as it was originally... and my hks ssqv sounds like a farting noise (like the blitz bov) instead of a high pitched whistling sound. my mechanic checked it out and he insists that everything is fine and i have no compression leakage or anything. even when boosting .7bar the car doesn't pull very much and feels like my KA motor. help meeeeeeeeeeee =*(

if you are running rich you will lose hp...and it could hurt the startup b/c it could be flodding the engine with to much gas...but then there could be a lot more problems, do you have a s-afc or anything, if you have black spark plugs then you should fix that problem...its simple fix one problem and then move onto the next...did you change something...all i can say is step by step, good luck im sure others will have more ideas

Sounds like you may have an open circuited water temp circuit. Go to the Ecu and look for trouble codes, and open in this circuit should trigger a trouble code on the ECU I dont remember the number though.

Since youre spark plugs are fouled, it is an indication that you may be running in closed loop mode. The ecu makes the car run rich until the temp sensor indicates that the car is warn. If the Temp sensor does not do this your car will alway run rich which is why you have trouble starting sometimes.

ITs happened to me. before you replace sensors check the wiring specially the continuity to ground.

Dont start swapping out spark plugs without fixing this condition first, its a waste of money.

I had the same prob on my miata a few years back when I put the greddy turbo kit on it. The bov was not doing S*** and I was not boosting. So I was wondering if you have a boost controller and if so are there any other hoses hooked up to the hose that the boost controller goes to( IE boost gauge,BOV, anything else). becuase it sounds like your bov is not getting enough vacume to open. try moving the hose to somewhere on the intake manifold( on one of the four nipples near the throttle body if you did not use them all).
