ok i seem to have a recurring problem with my amplifier. the first one i installed turned on for 1 second when the stereo was turned on then went dead right away while the stereo was still on. I asked around and emailed kenwood and they all said it was a faulty amp. So i sent it back and bought a new sony amp, installed it and it does the same exact thing. the power light turns on for one sec then shuts right off again. I have the 12v coming off the battery, the ground hooked up to the spare tire screw, the power control spliced into the stereos power control wire, and the input cables coming from the stereo deck. Have i done something wrong, is the spare tire screw a bad place for the ground? The sub amp power control wire connects to the cars power control which also is connected to the stereo deck right? Any input would help, thanks.

could possibly be a bad ground, make sure it is metal to metal, and sand off any paint if need be. Also check your fuses and replace them. Sometimes your fuse could be blown, but not fully and not let enough current run through. If you want pull the amp out and bench test it or on another battery. Fuse a 12V wire hook it up to the amp + and the remote and ground the other and if it still doesn't work then there is something else wrong. Try those two things and let me know what happens, if it still doesn't work I will ask you for some more info to help you troubleshoot.

I had the same problem with my first Kenwood when installing it in my truck. In that case, it was a bad ground. I ended up connecting the ground to a seat bolt which was one of the biggest bolt in the interior and I know it was attached to the frame. That solved the problem. I eventually realize I didn't really need an amp and scrapped it.

Yep, ground fixed it, thanks all for your help!!! I wish kenwood wouldhave told me that it was a bad ground instead of a bad amp, wouldhave saved me shipping costs to return it. Anyway, what matters is that the amp and subwoofer are now working!! Thx again.
