How did you make out with this issue? Is it the same on a 1992 240sx?

I had my radiator off & drained and since I put everything back together, I am having a serious overheating issue. Runs great now, but I can't drive because it overheats just during warmup, before I can even get driving.

???

buy a new one, install it, bleed, your car should take forever to warm up, and then should over heat...

it doesnt take that long it takes about 3 miles to get warmed up and gets to the thurd notch on the temp gauge where i beileve is the right temp for it to run at.i might get a 190 themostat and put it in and see what happens but im not gunna mess with it now cause its runing great

Just to let ya know:When I installed my new OEM Thermostat I had the same problem as you & I eventually figured out the hard way, how to properly bleed my system. At the advice of a local Radiator Repair Shop guy, I filled the system with 50/50 coolant, from the top hose. Yes, by removing the TOP HOSE at the radiator end & filling the system that way. Then real quick put the end back on the radiator without spilling too much, and the using the little Air Purge Screw, I was able to get all of the air out of the system. So, all is fine now & running great.Take care,Red.

I read on here more stories of people having bleeding problems. Never had one and dont see why all the people here do. What you do if you drain the system for a change of fluid or a repair is- Unscrew your air relief then fill with coolant and water till coolant comes out the air relief screw then tighten screw and topoff fluid.

bleeding 240's is a pain, mostly cause it takes time if its a totally empty system, but its straight forward, and jiggling the motor and squeezing/shaking the hoses helps, so does having the front jacked up.

as for running without a thermostat, your engine will overheat without you even knowing it...
