problems are stacking up

i asked about the water pump and got zero responses. found out my own way anyway. its not the problem.

the car is running rough when just idling. put it in gear, it drops to about 550 rpm and runs as if its missing constantly on one or more cylinders. it drives just fine, still a little jerk now and then once up to speed above 15.

i cant read any engine codes. when i try to read it at schmucks, all the computer says is it cant establish a link with the vehicle. the engine light has been on for a few days now. and once i would get about 25 it would start flashing at random. i counted them a few times. had a count of 6 and a count past 50. i wasnt able to read the codes, but i was able to erase the computer. the engine light is staying off, but still flashes above 25 at random.


ive been reading all over nico and nissanhelp and found things ranging from ecm and crank position sensor recalls to shot ignition coils and bad o2 sensors. i cant read the ecm for some reason, so its making it hard to diagnose this thing

Have you tried to have more than 1 place read it? What car is it anyway? Year/model.

Almost sounds like a vacuum leak. How's the gas mileage?
