Hey guys I need your help.I actually have two problems but dont know if they are related. When I'm at WOT it boosts fine all the way up to 6200 or so and then starts to sputter but not like its hitting a rev limiter. It will keep going like when I hit 6000 its fine then 6200 it sputters then 6300 or 6400 it will clear up then do it on and off at high RPMs like that. Now Ive thought of two things it may be.I dont have the screws that go into the coil packs that hold them down and no cover on them,I will try and get them today.Second, Ive got this cheap plastic adapter on my MAFS that looks to be bowed leaving a small amount of space between the HKS filter and MAFS.I am going to go get a metal one to see if this corrects it.Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.Oh and one more thing. When Im cruising in 5th and lightly step on the gas it sputters a little bit.I have the push the gas farther to clear it up.Thanks in advanceMy mods are:Front mount intercooler3 inch exhaust all the way backwalboro 255 fuel pumpTT fuel filterStock boostgreddy valve springs(doubt that has anything to do with)Greddy metal HG(Ditto)Denso platinum sparks plugs gapped at .28:help :help

i wouldnt drive that car that hard without those screws in there, but the hp starts to fall off at like 6200 on the sr's, and that airgap could be a part of the problem

i would agree with the airgap. also, check your exhaust connections. i've had odd things happen because a bolt on my cat was loose.

you guys mean the gap between filter & maf?? I dont see as how that matters other than letting un-filtered air in. It sounds to me like a misfire or spark getting "blown out"

i do want to know how long youve had the SR in the car. Also, check your timing. It should be 16 BTDC

I remember reading in Drag magazine ( I think it was Drag), they dyno'd a redtop they just installed. It would sputter and stumble around 6500rpm. Turned out the coils were weak and not giving a strong enough spark at that rpm. They installed splitfire coils and it fixed the problem. they also gained like 9hp.Just something to consider.

Thanks for the reply guys.I put the screws in the coils and it somewhat took care of it.It doesnt do it as bad.I had my SR for about 4 months now.It drives fine when I drive it normally besisides that partway throttle thing.I'm thinking that it it could be the coil packs also.Only because I switched two of them where they connect to the actual coil pack(yury did the wiring and told me to switch them because the firing order was wrong).I wonder where I can get that direct fire ignition system?I have heard some good things about those.I am also going to change that mafs adapter because I hear they are real sensitive. As far as timing,I'm going to have a shop check that.I checked it with a light and it wasnt that much off, dont remember exactly but know it wasnt that off.

912.0turbo,

Whats up man? Havent seen ya in a while. I found out what kind of damage happened to my KA when the pump went out. The head was screwed. Holes and what not in the head. I put on a new head over the weekend. I have a bit of an oil leak where it's not sealed properly on the front lower cover. I'll have that taken care of by Thursday. Then I'll be back on the road with a rebuilt head. =P

Those are the splitfire coilpacks. I hear great things about them. Definitely on my list for the SR. Good luck to you on cleaning up that sputter. I'll get in contact with you soon.
