Hey everyone,
I'm always reading the forums here but now I have an issue with my Maxima that I can't seem to find an answer to:

The car ran fine when I got it but one day it started accelerating funny. It is almost as if someone someone kept putting a plastic bag over the air filter. While my foot is in the same position it would lurch like this between normal power and reduced power until I let off the gas. If I'm going highway speeds and hit WOT the car will not increase very much in speed at all maybe 5mph but the car will Rev up to almost red line. It's dangerous.

The funny part is sometimes while driving the brake, abs, tcs off and slip light will all come on and when it does the car runs perfectly normal. The only similar issue I could find was members having the brake lamp switch go bad but they experienced limp mode performance when the lights came on and I do not.

I've replaced the timing chain and guide and the MAF sensor and have had no luck.

Thought it was the throttle body however since it runs great with the dash lights on it obviously has the ability to function normally.

There does not seem to be any vacuum leaks. Most likely a switch or sensor?

The code p0507 will come and go on its own

Does anyone have any suggestions from experience?

I couldn't ignore that DTC and go looking for something else.
Id take a closer look at that throttle body.
I can't recall a P0507 that wasn't fixed by replacing the throttle body and doing the relearn.

Ok that's really helpful. I have another throttle body on hand but couldn't seem to get the Allen key type bolts off without stripping them. Hopefully there's a way to still get those bolts removed. Why Nissan chose such a hard to torque on/off bolt I have no idea

Those bolts can be tight.
Standard length Allen sockets are just a touch short, and you end up on an angle and things can go wrong.
If they are already buggered, tiny vise-grips or tapping them around with a chisel is about it.
If you get a different TB on, you will need to do the IAVL procedure.

Thank you. I will give it a shot in the morning and see how it goes. I have the relearn procedure info printed out from when I attempted to replace it before. I'll let you know how it goes!

If you can get 3 out, rotate the body counterclockwise and it should break the last one free.
