problem with transmission?

i have this problem once im in fifth gear and i reach about 3500 RPM or so the car just seems to not allow me to press the gas and once the rpm's reach 3000 im good to go, and then it happens again. this has also happen in fourth gear once.does anyone know whats a matter with my car? and how can i fix this?

i do need a new clutch, my transmission does slip alittle. could this be it?

does the engine rev higher but the car doesnt go any faster?

or

do you press the gas pedal down farther but the engine does not respond to it and you dont accelerate?

if its the first one its a slipping clutch, #2 will require alittle bit of brain storming on our part.

when it reaches 3500 RPM and cuts off, thats when i press the gas petal and nothing happens. but once it reaches 3000RPM im all good to go.

i didnt have this problem this morning going to work. i dont know maybe the engine or ECU is doing whatever it wants.

the first one does happen, thats how i knew my clutch is slipping.
