my engine/trans only has 38k miles on it...im running 80w/120 gear oiland well it seems my 4th gear synchro is already going out...what partscan be used to rebuild the SR20det transmission??? ive been told its the same internals as the KA24de and RB20det/RB25det...is this true??and if so can i just use KA synchros to fix the problem?? also couldthis be curred using a different type of gear oil??? ive been told redline(or something around that name) works very well and helps worn synchrosmy forth gear grinds a little bit if i shift quickly while the engine isstill in revs (anywhere from 2500-7500) this is just a very annoying problem because the same **** happened with my KA trans beforei swapped the SR20 in...and this engine has almost 5x less miles(my KA had close to 130 miles on it) so any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated

synthetic gear oil made a huge difference in my crx transmission. It was VERY noticible even though it's only fluid you can tell.

It used to grind into second and third (like most b series trannies at 8K RPM) After the oil chagne it didn't.

While we're at it i also added Ford Limited Slip Additive to my transmission (FWD w LSD they share fluid) The additive only works on clutch and gear type LSD's but it literally works miricles. My lsd was grabby and loud. I added the Ford juice (just a tiny little bottle) and the LSD smoothed out in the middle of the second turn after putting it in.

sr trannies are cheap as hell

You will spend more money fixing your old one then you would just buying a new one (to you anyways)

Call Jeff @ heavythrottle they sell them for like $200-$250. He11 pick a couple up!

Redline shockproof lightweight is the gear goo of choice. If you run GL-5 fluid in your transmission you'll eat the syncro's up (hope you didn't make that mistake).

Otherwise just find an S14 KA transmission and swap the back ends and your set.

**** I just dumped 3 quarts of Mobil 1 Synthetic 75w90 GL5 oil in my SR transmission yesterday after someone posted to use GL5. I guess I will drain that sucker and pickup some synthetic GL4. Will it be real bad to run on GL5 for a couple weeks as far as long-term life of the transmission?

GL-5 eats up the brass syncro's Nissan uses, I think you'd be allright after only a week.
