Well today my suto transmission went dead. Whenever I try to change gears, the car does nothing. Has anyone ever had this problem before or does someone know a guide on how to fix/rebuild a auto transmission?

is there any fluid in the transmission? Sorry, seems like a no brainer, but I've been here before after a swap.

Well i'm not sure right now. The car is sitting on the side of the road. I am going to do just a run through of basic stuff so I will put an update on it in about 2 hours.

Well I can't really check it the normal way by going through the greas first, but it seems like it has fluid in it. The car doesn't even roll when I change gears. I'm going over the service maual to see if mybe I can rebuild it.

Even auto trannys should pull at least in reverse if you have any gears. If you have a severe leak or pressure loss you could have bad shifting but I have never seen it good one day and dead the next. I would assume with a small leak it would detiorate over time. There should be some write ups somewhere around the forums

let us know how it turns out.

OK, well the only problem that I noticed with the trans was that shifting from first to second would be kinda laggy. Thats the only thing that I have noticed ever sence I got the car. I mean you can push the car in N but i'm just saying that the gears wont shift at all.

Yeah they will tend to lag so much that they will no longer connect and bam you have a blown transmission, so your on the right path with a rebuild

hard is a reletive term, basically you need to replace all the friction disks and bands,a dn clean out the valve body, it's a matter of having a good clean work surface and taking your time, these do add some extra electronic componenets that might beed to be checked out as well, if your comfoprtable rebuilding an engine, the trans shouldn't be an issue, if however you can barely change your oil go have it done, and from my experience, it's worth the cost to have it done by a good builder as they get the parts cheaper than you so the cost difference gets smaller, and they do it all day and can do it much quicker
